name suggestions

Postby ultraslacker » Tue Jul 26, 2005 9:50 pm

any suggestions for what we could call this besides "running forum"? if we have a good name we can get a domain name and that makes for better exposure.

you're on the right track, but they might be a little long (maybe not, though).

for best results, the domain should have "run" in it somewhere and be really simple.

Not sure *actual* former addicts would find that particularly amusing?

hmmm... I wonder if it would be a problem.

The substance addicts/recovering addicts I know don't tend to be sensitive about the word "addict" (and yet, they're REALLY sensitive about words like "pipe").

But we can think about something more neutral, perhaps. :)

Would we want someone so sensitive as to be offended by "running addicts' on here anyway? :)

well, I don't want to alienate anyone unnecessarily... substance addictions can be quite serious and debilitating, so I understand why some would be sensitive about it. However, the word "addict" is used in many other contexts (how often do we speak of ourselves as running addicts?) so I guess that's where I think it would be fine anyway.

Plus, we can't please EVERYONE, as hard as we try.

I don't know...

Yeah, I guess you're right... offending people is no good... :D
Understand though that this comes from someone who thought "Team America" was the funniest movie of the year... (it's also by far the most WRONG thing I've ever seen)

I think the word "addict" is fine. I also know a couple of people recovering form addiction, and I know they don't bat an eyelash when they hear the word. Like you said, something with "run", short and sweet...but a little bit sassy!!

that's hilarious, and I do like it. what do people think of that?

I would want to clear it with Ken, though, as a courtesy.
