June training stats

Postby cgraham » Mon Jun 30, 2008 4:23 pm

Last day of June and no monthly thread up, so I'll start it:

341.8k; 25h 59:50

Not as much mileage as I would have wanted, but some hamstring issues and my wife's travel kept me from a few days, missing a couple of mid-long runs.

Pretty much all of it was base-building miles - a few tempos & striders here and there.
2009 Highlights
Marathon - 2:54:05 (Mar 22 - Tokyo)
Half - 1:20:00 (Apr 26 - Hartwell)
5k - 17:09 (Acura 5k - Jul 19)
800m - 2:16.80 (York U - Jul 28 )
Now - Getting back my running fitness
My training log

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!

"There are two types of injuries that we older runners get: those that we can run with and those that we can't. And if you're over 30 and don't have one or the other, you aren't training hard enough." - Younger Legs blog

Running: 238 K.
Lightning :)

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

June became more of a recovery month, due to recovering and tapering between Vancouver and Manitoba Marathons, and the decision to run another one in Calgary on July 6th.

Lower back/hibs and achilles have been flaring up at times, as a result, more easy/recovery and lsd runs have been on the schedule, with limited intensity workouts .... Weekly Hot Power Yoga has helped a lot, if not just for the relaxation and active recovery point-of-view ...

Hope to get back on the bike, after Calgary, for some lower resistance training, in particular with K-Town Duathlon less than 5 weeks away and absolutely no bike base :?

June Stats:

Running : 16:55:00 - 163K
Cycling Outdoors : 0:55:00 - 24K / 0:55:00 - 24K
Hot Power Yoga : 4x

Monthly / Cumulative Total:

Running : 16:55:00 - 163K / 135:50:00 - 1,370K
Cycling Outdoors : 0:44:00 - 24K / 0:55:00 - 24K
Cycling on CT : 3:00:00 - 105K / 11:15:00 - 385K

Hot Power Yoga : 4x / 8x

299 km this month, with most of it (131km) on one day. Been taking it easy since the ultra, just doing two runs more than 15 miles. Everything at a pretty easy pace while I plot my revenge on the 100 mile distance :-)

June 30 is 168 consecutive days of running, which I'm content with.

I run distance because I want to be in good shape when I die.

One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

Three nice PBs this month, followed by hurting my back at work... so some missed mileage. On the mend now, so onward!

Running 401km

My son Pascal was passenger for about 200km this month.
Tried to keep runs fresh and light.
Next month will hurt a bit more.

15 runs = 89 km, including 1 5k race.

No negative comments here! I am super happy to be running / training again and I think I put in a solid month with no missed runs! :D
