I think it's your choice.

Cool....as long as it includes golf I am in ;).

My activities too include...walk/run/bike/weights/golf/swim. There may be somedays where it may be a bike ride with a kid but still....

Not that I walk as much as you do, but my regular commute has a fair amount of walking in it. I'm thinking that I'd have to go above and beyond what I am already doing (e.g., add an extra 20 minutes to my walk home from the train). Minimum for any activity to count (for me) is 20 minutes.

For me, things I will count:
- walking over and above usual distance for commuting
- biking to/from work
- biking for errands
- running, biking/spinning, swimming (obviously)

What I won't count:
- strength/core training (sorry, IronColl and MINI-T  ) - not that it isn't important, but just not for this challenge.
- Exercises my PT gives me

Try to mix up the times of day - for instance run one morning and the evening the next so you get a nice 36 hour break.

But I don't think that an extra 12 hours of "rest" (i.e., 36-hour break vs. 24-hour) makes any difference though, because we get most of our rest/regeneration during sleep. If it's easier to run every morning or every night, that's a fine way to do it. It might make sleep patterns better too, which is so important.

I've got to agree with Strider on this. Those extra 12 hours mean two extra meals, and basically a whole day's worth of pre-run walking around which (IMHO) helps with a lot of the stiffness and whatnot. It might not seem significant in the first few weeks, but as the months go on I'm finding I wake up some mornings as stiff as 90-year-old (especially the day after a muscle damaging long run or race) and that 50% extra "off" time makes a difference.

And on the flip side of that, I'd have a tough time doing an evening run followed by a morning run (i.e., less than 12 hours recovery, even if eight of those hours consisted of sleep).

I agree you have to listen to your body. But I've seen dozens of these 100 day or 90 day or 365 day challenges, I haven't heard any stories of anyone getting injured as a result.

Not saying it hasn't happened, but I haven't heard.

A very easy pace 20 minute run the day after a hard effort can be good.

PS. Was that a typo Dave, did you mean stiff as a 19 year old?

I'm in. 20 minutes of running per day.

When I did this before, I felt better than taking full days off.

Im in as well, 100 days in a row of at least 20 minutes sounds like a great challenge!
I am starting a day behind so I will hit 100 on Jan 1, a nice solid date to be sure!

I wanted to do this, but thought to myself: "No, jwolf will tell me all the reasons why I shouldn't" ... but now that I realize it was Jen's idea, I'M IN. At least 20 minutes (3+ km) on my 'off days' which are Monday and Friday. There. I said it.

MrsLazana and I are both in for this.

For us, we have picked a minimum of running 3k each day or 20 minutes of appropriate exercise each day as well.

MrsLazagna and I have also decided that we are going to do the 100 push-up challenge. We've been doing pushups here and there since that initial round of 100 that we atempted a while back. We are not doing it weekly, but going to try and do it every second day.

I figure it's time to update and see who's on the list, then we can follow up at year end and see how we all did.

So, who's IN?
