2 weeks out from a half, after a race

Postby RA. » Fri Jun 03, 2011 8:00 pm

So I raced 17k last weekend. Next weekend, I'm thinking of doing a 5k race, and the following weekend (2 weeks from now) thinking I'll race a half.

Should I attempt to do a long run this weekend - i.e. 18ish km? Or, will another long run not make a huge difference for the half? I guess it couldn't hurt to run 20k, except that I haven't run at all since my race.

If you feel good then go for it. If not, maybe go shorter or include walking breaks throughout the 20km.

If you haven't run at all since your race, I'd do 15 or so tomorrow and see how you feel. Why not run 5 today, as well.
And run this week missy!

Probably not going to run today, though I could head out right now.... Maybe I will... And I will most definitely run this week. I really enjoyed the week off, though, I must say!

Yep. I'd like to do Cross Border, but I think getting a ride to Johnny Miles is easier.

I would try to get in at least one 16K-ish run this weekend or in the middle of next week.

If I don't get the long run in, I may just do the 10k instead. I'm actually now considering not doing the 5k race. $20 for a 5k, and $50 for the 10k or half.... That's a lot for racing, and the 5k route has a big hill. If I have to pick one race, I'd rather pick the 2nd weekend.

My run today proved that the cold is definitely still in my lungs, so a mid-week 16k may be a better decision.
