May Racing and Training

Postby HCcD » Thu May 01, 2014 9:07 am

May will apparently be a month of a number of racing / events, a cumulation of the first 4 months of winter training .... On tap is Mississauga Marathon, Where's Franktown 15K, ORW 10K / 50 minute Pace Bunny and ORW Half Marathon, so far .. :shifty:

Such the case, should expect the month to end around 200-225K or so ... hopefully, will be more frequent, but shorter runs, in preparation for the 5-10K races over the months of June and July ... :shifty:

my goal this month is 160 miles (257km).

eta: and re-enter the ultra world with my first 50km since 2011.
eta2: if I follow my plan I will have 205 miles (330km) but we all know how good I am at following my plan.

Try not to over-do for 31 days, and arrive at Calgary starting line with good feet. (Impossible goal imo).

- I think I'm going to continue with my April plan and target to run everyday in May. I want to increase the average length of each run so that fewer are right at my 30 minute minimum and thereby increase my mileage from April by 20%. (I don't tell real numbers as they are still kinda embarassing. )

- At the end of the month I'll repeat the 5k time trial that I did this morning and hope for considerable improvement. Alternatively there is a chip timed 10k race on June 1 that I might try.

I ran 214K in May. That including the half-marathon, recovery, marathon taper, marathon, and recovery. Moving on. :)

Did 130k for May, skipped three runs this month. Not too bad considering I haven't started training for anything yet

I actually ended up shooting for 300km but came out short and met my original goal. 161.6 miles = 260km. :) That's my biggest month since summer 2010.
