Walking in Flip-flops- A cautionary tale

Postby pts » Thu Jun 01, 2006 7:35 am

Yesterday i was planning on a 1 hour walk at lunch, but i forgot my walking shoes (old runners actually). But i thought, no problem, i'll jsut walk in my flip flops.

BAD IDEA- My ankle hurts and has swelled up like crazy :(

I learned my lesson!

Yes, I have had to retire my flip flops for all walks.

I was told by my physiotherapist that flip flops don't support your feet and tend to make you supinate (I think...). So it's no "flat" shoes at all for me now.

Hope your ankle heals fast, Erin!

Hi Erin,

In my "old age" I have learned to wear good shoes for walking. Around the house, clogs etc BUT have yet to try a pair of flip-flops. I was told
by my podiatrist that they are destroying feet - so I need my feet for walking so won't give them room in my closet :)
I hope your ankle gets better quickly and you are 'back on the streets" again!

Karen
