OK.. seeing as we will be having our own Hali extended mix M & G, I want to make a yummy treat for my fellow root biters.

Cheesecake topped brownies, or chocolate chip (Tollhouse style) cookies?
Both? :shifty:

Although I did already promise Helen M that I would bring the brownies.. lol

And half of those are in the 100.
I looked at the list of entrants and I'm wondering if this is the highest number of entrants in the history of this 100 miler. 48 and I'm sure there will be another few signing up last minute. I'm guessing somewhere between 50 and 55 this year. Good turnout.

Now, is it too early to start stressing over the weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday?

The Weather Network, looked for West Guilford, ON.

But since your forecast looks more rainy, I'm going to stick with my forecast.

Come on guys stop freaking us out! Have you ever known a weather report to be accurate 9 days away? I won't even bother checking until the 10th. And even then you can't be sure.
Case in point: The morning of the Kingston 6-hour race I checked the weather forecast before I left home that morning. It called for clouds and scattered showers all day. So I didn't bother to wear sunscreen. By 10 am there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was about 29 degrees. I haven't been that badly burned since I was about 15 years old.
Lesson learned: plan for all possible weather scenarios.

In Haliburton, that means bring rubber boots and a down jacket. You never know. :D

Seriously, the forecast this early on is meaningless. Especially up there where they use weather stations that are fairly far away. Check the forecast on Friday morning. :D

As an aside, the trails were pretty wet in mid-july. Not fun running with soggy feet...

Last year, I missed the Forest Shrine and couldn't leave my offering. I weighted heavy in my pocket all day. I paid a steep price later during the race. I will not miss it this time! Ignore at your own risk!!!

Somehow I can find it on the way out, but never when I'm running back towards Base Camp.
Yes, ignore at your own risk! :naughty:
Every year I leave a little something there.
2 years ago it was a yellow gummy bear (captured in a photo by someone here, I can't remember who), last year I left a HF tattoo at the shrine. Not sure what I'm bringing this year, but it's gotta be something nice.

Quick one...where are folks staying for the race motel-wise? I'm exploring options, looking for something very close to the race venue, nothing fancy. Any recommendations?

Kinga probably peeks at the presents under the Christmas tree! For me the long range weather is more a mater of anticipation … if the day is now on a weather forecast its not very far away! The weather has been pretty consistent so I am expecting some warm conditions. Regardless of anticipation or the weather experts I will be prepare for the frigid aortic, burning desert or anything in between.

Planning on camping out in the parking lot again! I bedded down in the back of my Durango and was quite comfortable until the air leaked from the mattress the kids were using the week before!!!!! I was afraid of sleeping through my alarm but there was lots of activity in the parking lot starting around 4:30 am.

Looking forward to seeing everyone …if you see an old beat up Dodge Durango arrive after dark come say Hi.
