OUS 2012

Postby hezzy » Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:15 am

I see that the Dirty Girls 2012 date has been confirmed. Does anyone have the inside scoop on when the rest of the race dates for 2012 will be posted? I'm itching to update my race calendar for next year! :D

There are just a few finishing touches to put on the schedule before posting... Creemore is July 7 (I'm hoping for warm weather this year) and Limberlost is trying for July 21, but the volunteers are only available on July 14... Might be back-to-back Challenges!

Seaton is looking at a slightly later date. Not sure why. Perhaps they thought that almost killing half the Ontario ultra runners in the first race was bad form...

I should not make jokes about warm weather...

Noooooooooooo! Creemore is the same weekend as the Boiler Maker in Utica, NY. Now I have to choose between running 50K in a frying pan and having Creemore beer at the finish, or running 15K and having Matt Brewing Company beer at the finish (whatever that is). Although the Boiler Maker website indicates the race does have some "challenging hills".....

According to Google maps Utica is only 6.5 hours from Creemore. Perhaps a double header weekend is in order?

That would be good if I run the Athens Ohio Marathon April 1st. Weather wasn't that bad last year, I eventually warmed up, some day in July if memory serves.

Never joke about the weather, Mother Nature can be a bytch.

That's a bit too close to Sulphur for me

Not sure when PYP will be in 2012, but I think Adam is trying for May. Seaton is May 12? Interesting... Don't forget the Spring Warm-up. It will be circa 2 weeks before the first race, but not on a long weekend. The course will be the same as last year; road and trail near Dunedin, with only 2 hills! As I recall from WGR's blog last year, there is a screaming 1K downhill that begs to be run full out!

Thanks Chainsaw! I'm going to assume that Kingston and Ottawa will not fall on the same day as other OUS races.

So based on this, I have an entry for ITT 32K up for grabs if the RD will let me transfer it. I deferred my entry this year, but I'll be doing the Endurrun week of races so won't be able to run ITT next year. I'll obviously repost closer to the race date but all you OUS folks keep that in mind.

Thanks for the info. Does it seem a little busy or is it just me? May is 3 in 4 weeks, July and August both have races one week apart.
next up:

This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

Now just to wait on other races to deside on dates.

Last year I handed in my summer time off requests in January.

I totally agree. With DG and ITT, it is not such a big deal, as the runners (aside from those who run everything) are different. It is a shame that CVC and TLC are only 1 week apart, as they have similar race distances. I'm partially to blame. Neil could not keep his race on July 21 as his volunteers are up at Limberlost only on July 14. I cannot get volunteers on the (July 1) long weekend...

Now that the race schedule is almost set, I am hoping to hold the Spring Warm-up on April 14... Lot's of maple syrup by then!

I have already started booking 2012 Vacation time around my runs. Unfortunately I won’t be able to do the OUS warm up , I am already registered for another race that weekend. With the exception of Kingston ( thinking about it ), Ottawa and ITT I will be hitting all the OUS events. VB conflicts with STWM , hit the road this year so it back to the trail in for the last OUS event of 2012.

I had a moment of panic when I noticed that a longer distance was not added to Limberlost for next year (as I was hoping this would mean a longer time cutoff), then I read the FAQ and noticed the cutoff has been extended to 11 hours. Woohoo! Such a tough course and I will need every minute I can get!

Now if only they would do the same for PYP....

OUS 2015

Postby Double Bellybuster » Mon Oct 27, 2014 2:44 pm

Anyone have the inside scoop on when the Niagara Marathon & 50K may fall next year? Thanks. pattern would suggest June 13 but it appears the 100K may split off.

The 100K is apparently every second year...so they won't have one in 2015. Sylvie checked with them as we were both considering the 100K this year and she wanted to know the date.

The website says page being updated 2015 date coming soon.

Thanks Robin. I likely made an incorrect assumption somewhere in drawing my 100K conclusion. Biannual makes sense.
