Go DS!
During any successful session, one might and should have a moment of truth, "should I continue or just walk home?". If you don't break down, the same thing might happen a few hundred steps later, but you already dealt with that issue. This usually happens in the second half, anyways. The satisfaction one derives later, when at home, is extremely gratifying, and is a build up like no other to further efforts.

It looks that after he "warmed up" he took a lead and finish it.

Thanks. 13 days for 430 miles. But I seem to remember spaff was doing a shorter race. Still, cold and tough. Sleeping out....eeeeek!

to be honest: I am a pampered person.

Holy smokes, that race is something else. I can't imagine 100 miles in that environment. I'd love to be a snow flea on his pulk.
I read your tir(e)ades about no snow during your training. ;)

The weather was pretty well perfect for the race this weekend. Yesterday it was -4 and sunny, low overnight was about -15 and calm. Spaff crushed the competition and the course record.

Thanks everyone for the comments about YAU100miler. Very much appreciated. Very pleased with second place finish. Justin Wallace nailed it and ran an awesome race! Seems like there was some discrepancies with the updates. Justin lead the race after the first few kms and set a new course record. I tried to go after him at 50km, and close the gap, but may have been too aggressive and paid for it later. Oh well. Got pretty cold last night and temp dipped to −30C in the interior. I felt like there wasn’t anything that I could have done differently so always a good way to leave an event. The course was spectacular with bright moon, mountain views and fantastic scenery. Highly recommend it. I probably only wore my headlamp for only half the night running. Bliss! The Yukon has touched my soul like no other. Off to bed now. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that running with a pulk/sled for 100 miles is fun! Ouch!

Huge congrats to Strider for a great second place finish in a speedy marathon....even with a nasty cold!

Saw a wolf on the river below just before it got dark. Beautiiful! Also lots of BIG CAT tracks....a little unnerving as some had gone over top of Justin's footprints just before I saw them.
