Hey all.

Let's hear the skinny. What are your plans for the new year? I would like to suggest that everyone adds at least one component that is outside your current comfort zone. Even if it is outrageous are requires winning the lottery. Let's dream!

My plans (I think I have "unrealistic" sewn up):

As is usual most of the OUS stuff. The first OUSer the Laura Secord 100K is the one I loose sleep over. 100K on the Bruce Trail is going to be quite a challenge. Taking place April 5th means its going to be cold, wet , dark and potentially slippery. Carefully planned drop bags are a make or break for this race. On a positive note all the other races should be easy after this monster!

ATB - see my wife finish it in good shape and excited to run more.

Ottawa Marathon - strange I never ran a marathon before...ultras yes, marathons no. I'll be lost without a hill to walk up.

Vermont 100 - 100 miles of Vermont goodness...I managed to get in. With 16k' of climbing and declining this will be an adventure.

Out there goals - I'd like to run the Quebec portion of the Appalachian trail, 605k through Gaspe...not this year though.

Maybe goals - run the Cape Chignecto trail. 51k in an amazingly beautiful area near my in-laws cabin back home in NS. Tough hike, hence it could be an amazing run.

Survive Ray Zahab as a coach...his training runs cross continents, so I can't wait to see what he has in store for me.

This adventure deserves a journal.

I like the idea of a journal. I keep track of individual runs for our weekly meeting now, but not really a journal. Great idea, in my old age I could read it and say what were you thinking... :D

it's been nearly 3 years since I did an ultra distance. So my plan, hope, and aspiration are simply earning my ultra title once again... actually twice again (maybe thrice, we'll see ;)

I signed up for the Manitoba Marathon in June. This will be my first and is WAAAYYY outside my comfort zone!

ETA: just realized this is the Ultras section :shifty: backing away slowly in hopes to not get noticed...

Will be running my 2nd 100 miler at Sulphur Springs -- looking to cut 3 hours off last year's time, so I don't think that will be too comfy!!

Also, am hoping to do a Try-a-Tri at the end of the summer -- the swim portion is WAY outside my comfort zone!!

I'll bribe puppy strider this weekend with steak and he'll tell me. Never trust a dog to keep a secret when there's food involved.

This is the year I move my focus from the road to the trail.......... after Boston!

My big trail goal for the year is the Ultra Trail Harricana- 65km in Charlevoix in Sept. Looking quite possibly at 50K at Sulphur Springs as a warm up, and possibly a 50k Fat Ass in PA when we're down visiting my in-laws this summer.

Careful there Buddy....I want Strider Pup to want to come home....even though I think Mrsngcaper may try to hide him.

Cool Erin, Welcome to the new Dark Side (truly is because we run at night)

Way to go CAW! A marathon and a 50K this year (why not?)! I mean a 50K is easier than a marathon and about the same training... Since you will be trained for the marathon, keep going (let's see what this baby can do!!!).

Erinmcd: An nice comfy (65K) ultra in Charlevoix? In September? Hmmm. Baie Saint Paul is my favorite spot in QC! Must investigate. This is the problem with reading about everyone's race plans. They all look so enticing!

Planning on running my first, second, third, and fourth 100 miler this year. http://www.umtr.net/trail-series/gnarly-bandit-ultra-series/. The 100k at the end is a rest week.

I've revised my spring plan a bit. It now includes:
Seaton 25k
Sulphur Springs 25k (was going to be 50k but I'm not ready)
Creemore Vertical Challenge 50k

I'm registered for Seaton.
