Creemore Vertical Challenge

Postby Chainsaw Baby » Mon Jun 16, 2014 12:31 pm

Hey all.

For those considering this race, Jeff Rowthorne from Get Out There magazine made a Youtube of last year's race:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_FtoviUpz4

By the way, Jeff absolutely smoked the Niagara 50K course on Saturday, in 4:15!

I hope to post a RR for Niagara 50K soon. I was a long way back from Jeff (5:55), but happy with my race.

Cheers!

Christa and I are signed-up. I will be gunning for my 99th Ultra / Marathon finish. If all goes well, I will be trying for one of your coveted Ultra Challenge Challenge medals and my 100th finish at Limberlost.

Hope we registered in time to get the maple syurp

Pierre, I absolutely loved this event. You and Lee Ann do such a fantastic job and I couldn't say enough good things about this race. It's a "challenge" for sure, but lots of fun!

Nice to see some Maniacs as well. A very fun day.

Hey! We had a grand old time!

It helps to have near-perfect running weather, so the runners don't have to worry about their core temperature, but can focus on killing the course...

Some thoughts from a race director's perspective:

Always love hearing from yours, race director perspective.
If it was not for a very frustrating ankle I would have loved to participate. My 2cents- wish is a little steep but I will give it for free is, change the date. I do not want to run a fall marathon, I want fall trail races, which with the changing of colours on the escarpment could be epic. Also, with the later time of year comes opportunity for later start times. I do not like getting up before 6am for something I am paying to do. I can not be the only person who choses races based on start times.

If you have to raise the entry fee by $5-10 I don't think it will impact you much. I think that the cost of running it is reasonable. The Ontario race calendar is pretty full and I am assuming the Northface race will stick around but I enjoy the time of year when it is run. Good luck for next year.

I agree, I think raising the fee is a good idea as it's definitely a value event! I've only done it once but would love to be able to go back. Hope everything works out.
