Blackfoot - Pics from the trail

Postby dwayne_runs_far » Sun Jun 04, 2006 1:28 pm

So while running the 100k last weekend I took along one of those little disposable cameras and clicked a few shots along the way. Here's some of the more interesting shots.

First, the amazing pit crew, this is a live action shot taken while running into the main aid station after the first lap (ie, 7:33 am!)
Image
Some along the trail, the woman with the pig-tails is Van who was running her 18th ultra of 2006, and is leading the North American trailrunner ultra series.

And last, the shoes, mucky, mucky shoes...

Ah the memories, it all seems so much longer ago than a week now.

Those are beautiful pictures. I've cross country skiied out there... I've ridden horses out there - but I've never run out there... what an experience that would be. The picture with the rolling hills really gives you an appreciation for the course.

Me Too!!! When are we going, Ron? (By the way, where you been? I just noticed you resurfaced a couple of days ago after not posting for awhile)

It reminds me of some of the Run for the Toad course. Don't you just love running the trails???

Geeze, maybe runningmania can take over the Blackfoot course next year :-) The race director would really be giving Natalie a hard time for blackberry blogging then.

So far I am 90% going to go back there next year, Jill, Holly & Jennifer are thinking 50k, Lawrence? and I have a sneaking suspicion that a certain maniac will be back to defend her title... Plus one of our new members (don'tstopnow) is a Blackfoot veteran now too.

That would be few jugs of orange kool-aid to make :-)

As you know the RM colors are orange.... It is a joke. We reference the drinking the kool aid to "joining the cult". You might remember the historical reference involving the james Jones cult?

All joke materials....

Yeah, I'll probably be back, depending on how bad the Death Race beats me up!
I'm usually not into doing the same race more than once, but I really liked Blackfoot, and can always up my distance there anyway.

And remember, it's ran the opposite way next year, so it's like a whole new race :-) One with aid stations at the TOPS of hills.

I just had a lecture today from my "personal physician" on how she didnt' think this was healthy for me. I pointed out that people who drink too much vomit every darn weekend of their lives and how was running an ultra worse than that???

I see my resolve is slowly weakening just one week later.....

Krista,
You need a new doctor.

Dwane,
The pictures are great! It makes me want to do more TRAIL running, but not necessarily an ultra!! (42.2 is long enough for me, thank you very much!! ).

Nah, she is my girlfriend and co-worker.... she isn't really my MD. She was just worried when she had to delivery pedialyte post race. In defence of her, she knows I have a high tendency to suffer from electrolyte distrubances and she is just worried I'd have something serious happen post race. Ya know, she has a point.... But I go to my own drum........

Aw, how about just another 7.8 k and you could do the 50k next year :-) At last count there are 3 others that were there cheering that day that are seriously thinking about it :-)
