Petition - please read and help!!!!

Postby rune163 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:56 pm

Hey folks,

Regarding the ACU scam here is a petition that is going around to remove the team manager from his duty for the below stated reasons. Don't sign just cause you know me but if you truly believe its wrong what he's doing.
Just reply and add your full name, city and email if you wish. Currently I have more signatures than the ACU has members, however, the more the better!

We, the undersigned, call for the immediate resignation or dismissal of Armand LeBlanc, Team Manager of the Canadian 100k and 24 Hour teams, for the below stated reasons:

· the inability to act in the best interest of Canadian Ultra Running
· personal issues prevent him from naming athletes to the team despite qualifications
· biased team selection naming close friends to the team despite faster athletes. These close friends receive funding from the IAU, IAAF and any sponsors the ACU has for subsidized trip to the World Challenge
· poor communication skills exhibited mostly in 2004 when Clark Zealand was on the National Team, but never contacted or informed, despite Clark’s coordinates being provided to the team manager. To date (2 years later), Clark still has not received any apology or been contacted by the ACU or Team Manager
· qualifying standards set for certain individuals and not to others. Case in point the 2006 team. By the selection criteria set out by the team manager which is published on the ACU website (www.acu100k.com) no where does it state you need to run 100k to qualify for the team. You can use 50 milers as qualifiers. The excuse given for naming an athlete 42 minutes over standard over an athlete 11 minutes over standard was “100k times receive preference and you haven’t recently ran 100k.” However in 2005 he named 3 people to the team based on 50 mile times and one person had never ran 100k ever. In 2004 an athlete was named with a 50 mile time, that athlete also had never run 100k.
all in all the team manager cannot act in the best interest of Canadian Ultra Running and personal issues clearly get in the way of sending the top athletes to World’s to compete, as per the selection criteria.

This doesn't compute: If the athelete was 11 minutes over standard then he must have recently run a 100k? Or was the 42 minute-over run current and the 11 minute over run not-current? If so there is arguable a case for accepting the 8:42 over the 8:11 isn't there??

they were both run within the qualifying period as outlined by the rules on the selection criteria.

In my opinion, any documented instance of the ACU failing to follow its own guidelines in team selection is both a necessary and sufficient cause for the removal of the person most responsible for validating the selection process, viz. the team manager.
