Smoke gets in my eyes....

Postby RunDiva » Wed Oct 19, 2005 1:00 pm

...well actually, sweat gets in my eyes... I'm a big head sweater.
I often wear a headband, or on some days I will wear a hat. Rarely will I go without wearing something on my head.

What about you?

The hat is multifunctional piece for me - keeps much of the rain out of my face (read glasses), keep the sweat out of eyes and keeps the sun off of my increasingly exposed noggin.

my shades (Expresso? i think, the cheap ones at MEC) block the sweat just enough to go into my eyes.

My choice wasn't up there - nothing and I curse all the sweat in my eyes on hot days!

Because I keep my hair very, very short I usually don't have a problem with excessive headsweating, so when it does happen it catches me unprepared.

If this is a sweat poll, then why is the Subject Line "Smoke .." ?

Usually a hitech cap, but started wearing a buff lately ...

I only wear a hat on cold days or sunny days (to keep my head from burning)

I sweat a lot too, if you run fast enough it rolls down your back instead of in your eyes. :) But then it rolls down your legs and gets in your shoes then my socks get squishy, How do you prevent that?

i wear a hat most days. it's not necessarily for the sweat factor, though it is usually drenched when i get home. i wear it more to keep the sun or rain out of my eyes.

I wear a hat most of the time. Keep the sun out of my eyes too.

I would feel like being in the wrong century with a head band.

On account of the arid moonscape of my smoothly shorn noggin, when I sweat up there, it runs like a river of salt and sunscreen right into my eyes. In other words, I sweat like a ****** and it HURTS.

Hence, I usually wear a hat, which I remove from time to time to cool my now-overheated noggin.

I also wear a "doo-wrap" or "dew wrap" under my bike helmet to protect against the sun and keep the sweat under control. It also keep my head warm on cool morning rides.

Actually, I might do any of the above (except for the headband as that's just goofy looking). Depends on the weather. If it's raining, I like something with a brim to keep the rain out of my face. If it's sunny, I'll often go with a bandana and sunglasses. My head gets really hot because I have such thick hair, which is why I like the visor. But if it's a real scorcher, I feel too exposed in a visor and can be prone to heat stroke from the sun beating down on my head since I am so fair skinned.

I always wear a hat when running outdoors... yes, to protect from the sun, sweat, rain, etcetera but also because I'm not about to style my hair twice in one day! It's quite short and finds many interesting directions in the morning. :? The sequence is to have the hat-head-hair, run (with cap), shower, then get ready for the day! When I run on my TM, I just have a facecloth handy.
Done: Full 2, 30k 2, 25k 1, Half 11, 13k 2, 10k 2, 8k 1, 5k 20 ...
Hmmm... this needs an update!

"Smoke gets in my eyes". It's the title of a Paul Anka song from way back.

not too long ago this topic came up on an ultra chat list. someone was quoted as saying "rub vasoline in your eyes to stop your forehead from sweating." What they meant was rub vasoline on your forehead to stop it from getting into your eyes. As a result of this misprint hundreds of ultra runners went down with eye infections from putting glob fulls of vasoline in their eyes to stop their forehead from sweating. after consulting a physician it was confirmed that putting vasoline on your eyes is bad for you but their was no scientific proof to say that putting vasoline on your forehead was bad.......

I almost always wear a hat or visor 8) My hair flys around too much if I don't have it tied back & I don't have a hat on, so there are always a couple of hats floating around in the car...

As for the vasoline on the eyebrows, also try lip balm... (a tri-trick I learned this summer...)

A hat...I kinda feel bear if I don't have a running hat on...

I love the 20 Minute Challenge Ones from R.R. The only hat I've found that fits me (I have a small head)

Bandana if I wear anything...got no hair, so the sweat kinda blows back over my shiny scalp, like rain off the hood of a car...heh heh.

Usually a hat, sometimes a bandana. But it's mostly to keep my hair from doing strange things. The most I sweat, the bigger and more frizzy my hair gets - it's not pretty. The hat keeps it all under control.
