Canada's Olympic outfits go green

Postby CAW » Thu May 01, 2008 8:20 am

Canada's Olympic athletes will be sporting a touch of green in their traditionally red and white uniforms at the Beijing Games — not only as a colour but also in the eco-friendly fabrics used for the clothing line.

Oh my, that pink and white pajama thing is ugly. So is the t-shirt. Worst uniform in years I think. Thanks for posting.

Shrug. I don't have to wear them, so they don't bother me. But I don't think I would wear anything I saw unless forced to!

Although they won't be doing so all the way to the bank. The USOC dropped Roots too.

My favourite comment about this line of olympic clothing ...

Sorry, but the guy in left of the photo looks like he was either jumped by a grafitti artist, or he just rolled out of bed in his sister's pj's...

Actually they do give them a bag to put over their head. They call it a B wrap or something - I forget what. It sounds to be like the buff's on survivor. You can wear it as a headband or around you neck and pull it up over your face to filter smog (which would be like putting a bag over your head) :?

I'll reserve judgment until I see the athletes wearing them this summer. At first glance, they don't really appeal to me, but who knows... :? Besides, it's more important that the athletes themselves like them. That said, if they're looking for regular people to buy them at The Bay, chances are they're not going to appeal to very many people.

OK, so I walk over to the nearby mall at lunchtime. There is a Bay store in the mall. I am strolling through the Bay when lo and behold, the officially unveiled gear is sitting there in a display right in front of me.

I never thought it was possible, but this stuff looks UGLIER in person than it does in the photos. The pajama-like thing is available in a full-zip hoodie, and (hoodie gods please be kind to me) it is certainly a hoodie that should never have been made let alone be worn. Ick!!!

I disagree. I was at Zellers earlier this afternoon, and I think the gear looks quite nice. The photo with the head-to-toe busy pattern is a bit much, but take the top with black or red pants, and it's not so crazy.

Some of the previous Olympic outfits weren't great but these are the worst yet!!

I hope all the outfits don't look like the ones we saw here.

So not impressed with the outfits! The models in the picture look like they are doing an SNL spoof of a fashion show.

To be honest, the most disappointing thing wasn't even the hideous hoodie (which I wouldn't wear, knickers or not! ) To me it was actually the t-shirt which you can just barely see in the pic above on the guy at the far right. I think if you click on the link at the top, there is a much clearer picture near the bottom of the article. Anyway, I thought when I saw it on the news the shirt had at least a little potential. But when I saw it at the store, it looked really faded, like it had been washed about 200 times. If the colour is that poor on all of them, it will be a shame.

I like the T-shirt, but agree about the full sweats.
