Yeah- when I posted it was 149.99. Not sure how amazon works exactly- how often do the prices change?

Amazing how technology drops in price so quickly. Didn't the 405 just come out a couple years ago? And the price was what again? $350 or something high like that.

Amazon often makes pricing errors and corrects them as soon as they realize (or as soon as people start ordering). If you're lucky, your order will be processed with the incorrect price, but they often realize their mistake and charge the higher price even if you've ordered at the lower price. I suspect that's what happened here.

Perhaps that was it-- they might have mixed it up with the 305 at the time. I should have tried to order one. :)

Tisha- they have just come out with the 410 and 610 which they are marketing aggressively, so I'm not surprised that the 405 has dropped.

Even on Garmin's website it has the 405 listed for $220. Wow- still a great deal.

It seems that's the only one that HASN'T seen a price drop, since so far they haven't come out with anything that replaces it.

Yup. Something newer and snazzier to replace it with. So ... when to jump on the bandwagon is the biggest question to ask ... buy one and a couple months later I'll want the new one ... seems to me this has happened with computers and cell phones as well ... ARGH ... slow down ... just a little ... please ...

I wonder if anyone charged a higher price has called them on false advertising. I'm thinking people could take them to court if they could prove the price when ordering. I know it seems like a waste of money and time but I also think companies need to be held accountable for their mistakes instead of making the consumers pay. I know I'm in dream land and should be laying down when thinking these thoughts!

this comes up often if you follow forums like redflagdeals.com. believe me, these people have tried, but usually the order is cancelled.

i'm not sure of the laws about honouring prices, but i think there's a clause for typos/misprints, etc. i see signs up in grocery stores all the time that say "the flyer said that XYZ was on sale, but it was actually supposed to be ABC. we apologize for any inconvenience."

When I worked retail we sold one at the marked 'wrong' price. And then changed the shelf price QUICK! LOL Never had a flyer error though.

Costco.ca online has the garmin 305 for $159.99 and the 405CX for $219.99. But when I was in the store last week, I could have sworn that I saw the 405 selling for $195 and the 305 was cheaper. The online price maybe higher to cover shipping, but I'm not sure.
