Want to make a decision and commitment today. Do I sign up for an LTR online via RR or do the Couch to 5K?

just posted on your fb question too! i really like the c25k program (and it is free!) but maybe signing up for something would help. cool runnings has a c25k forum where you can talk to others at the same stage as you.

For me right now it is about mental health. I remember my first run was in my very first few years of teaching and I went out for a run because my stress level was high. I put on my running shoes and my goal was to run from light pole to light pole. It really helped. I am at that stage again. I need to be out running now.

I checked out the C25K recently when I was putting together support and links for new runners at the gym. I thought it was awesome...

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate all of it. I know I have been down this road many times and the fact that people still support me amazes me at times.
My friend suggested I might like couch to 10K better.

You give a lot of yourself to people.
It's why you receive back.
Which program excites ytou the most...and perhaps there's a goal event you'd like to enter as victory lap.
Personally I think it should be the Army 5km in September...just sayin

Re: Back to start - again, yes again
Up to week 6 it looks like a nice easy progression on the minutes running, then from week 7 on it seems like the program is "cramming" the get the run part high. I'd be a bit concerned about that, and personally, if I was starting again, I wouldn't increase quite so drastically after week 7. You may find it OK though. Just my thoughts.

I agree with Jo.
I think C25k as suggested by Jesse would be great. It should also be easier than you think as you are not really a couch potato but more like "deconditioned". Setting a goal, or a set of goals is also important. The Army 5k would be a great one and you would also benefit with a trip to Ottawa... just sayin too...

Re: Back to start - again, yes again
Gosh, I wish I could post in the hot new(ish) mama running thread. But that is another post in another area or on the therapist's couch
I started today. I don't know why I was so silly to think I could start anything during the last 2 weeks of school. Silly Lesley. I was at the parents yesterday and today I slept most of the day away (mental and physical crash) and then sucked up the anxiety and went out to run.
Day 1 (screwed up the app on my ipod (not itouch -thanks dee) so will repeat day 2 as it is the same as day 1)
5 min warm up: I don't think they meant to run the warm up. I realized this when the first interval came on and it said run now oops
Alternate 1min running with 2 mins walking for 20 mins: This was not too bad - my shins and hips were kinda wondering what on earth we were doing.
5mins cool down: I was ready to walk at this point - did a cool down.
Reflection:
I did not have the 'you are back starting again you knob' thoughts when I went out but about half way through I had to shush that voice up. I enjoyed being out. I liked the fact that I can listen to my own music but still use the app. My cardio was not too bad (maybe running earlier or later in the evening would be better) but I really felt the running in my shins and my arse (I can hear how heavy I run - and the extra weight does not help)
I will be back at it on Monday for Day 2.

I think most of us have started back for one reason or another. It takes time and perseverance ... and I think you have both! Keep running.

Re: Back to start - again, yes again
I had a flare up of my stomach issues (diagnosed with mild colitis a few years ago, have to schedule a colonoscopy to check in) so re-re-re-re started and ran on Friday. Today a friend is coming over to run with me, this is huge as she is not a fan of running. She wants to get a bit of exercise but also she is an amazing friend and wants to help me say motivated and stick with the program. See, she knows I enjoy running but have developed an anxiety of being out running. I have no idea why this anxiety as come up. It happened on my last run when I went out again, had to come back in, deal with my anxiety but I went out again and finished the C25K program for the day.
She is on her way over to run now! Excited to run with her but also a bit anxious.
Maybe this program is not so much about the actual running but about battling my anxiety (again).

I will be back at it on Monday for Day 2.
Day 2:
5 min warm up: Actually speed walked this time as opposed to running. I think it was a good decision.
Alternate 1min running with 2 mins walking for 20 mins: Did great and felt good. The 2 mins walking is weird but I am sticking with the program.
5mins cool down: Enjoyed this part
Reflection:
Had an issue at the start with my stomach. Not sure if it is anxiety based or the IBD is acting up. Came back, dealt with that and forced myself back out. Enjoyed the run.
Day 3: (same plan as before...wondering when it will change up)
Did this run with one of my bff's. She hates running but loves me so is doing it with me. In turn, I will go to her gym (eek a new place!) to do one of the classes she likes.
5 min warm up: Speed walked
Alternate 1min running with 2 mins walking for 20 mins: Did great and felt good.
Cool Down 5mins: medium pace
Reflection:
I normally hate running with people as my internal critic kicks in and I am worried about bowel issues (which probably brings about bowel issues) but when my friend suggested this run I jumped at the chance to do something I like with her. We decided to do a home spa day after as I have a sauna here at my condo.
Day 4 ..I am coming for you

Day 4: 5 min warm up: Speed walked...tried to push myself more this time.
Alternate 1min running with 2 mins walking for 20 mins: Did not feel so good today - lower back and shins hurt as well as breathing was tough (allergies)...but kept telling myself I can do this, I can get through this.
Cool Down 5mins: medium pace
