Perth Triathlon

Well I just entered myself and a friend as a team. There are still about 30 spots left. Sunday, June 1

For those who don't know, its a try-a-tri kind of distance, 500m swim, 15 km bike, and 3km run. Swim in the pool, then out the back door. Local misfits of different types, plus some pretty hot athletes going flat out.

The most interesting thing for new people is the starting and heats system. You seed your expected swim time, then the heats start with the slowest swimmers FIRST, who get out of the water and go and finish their race. Everyone is still around cheering for them, instead of gone home. When the last of the 8 swimmers gets out, another heat starts. But the main thing is that these people are actually back in time to watch the fastest people do their race. Nice setup.

Great pot-luck lunch after, and lots and lots of door prizes. Back to those long-sleeve t-shirts again this year.
