New Ride!

Postby La » Sat Nov 26, 2005 2:29 pm

Yes, fellow darksiders, I bought a new bike!!

Here she is: Image
Her name is Vroom.

She has DuraAce components [drool] and a carbon fork that it totally stylin! This is my first time on a real Tri bike with integrated aerobars, bullhorn handlebars and bar-end shifters. The only modifications I made were putting a compact crank on it (50/34 instead of 53/39) and going with a 12-27 cassette. I need all the help I can get going up those hills in Penticton! I still can't believe I bought it!!

Specs are here: http://www.cervelo.com/bikes.aspx?bike=Dual2006

I go for my fitting and pick it up on Tuesday. Woo hoo! :D

Congratulations, Lesley, on a new Girl .....

Yes, I am so jealous of your new ride ... makes me wanna have more, myself ....

Take care of Vroom, and I am sure that she will take you to a lot of places far, far away and and lightspeed, as well ....

Also, make sure to continue giving attention to your other baby, as well, 'cause you know what happened last time when you brought home a new sibbling for her ...

Take care and, All the Best ... andy :) Peace !!!

Jealousy does not become you, Bman!

I'm going to keep The Bee for now as there might be times when I want to go for a ride on a mucky day and I'm not ready to let Vroom get dirty yet. I'll probably take the aerobars off her, though.

Even if the weather is good, are you taking her out on the roads? I don't know about T-Dot, but the roads in Montreal are snow & slush covered right now. I will ride my cyclocross bike in this stuff but I would be hesitant to put a Cervelo through this.
Mind you, I would also be dying to go for a ride on a shiney new bike!

congrats!! She's so beautiful.....looks just like you! ;) (uh, I mean, she's perfect!)

as for the bike fit....if possible, I HIGHLY recommend getting a professional fit done....it's $$$ but, totally worth it. It made a HUGE difference for me!

I think I know someone (Jacc) who is looking for a set of aerobars.... ;)

The fit comes with the purchase. My appointment is for Tuesday evening when I pick her up. I'm buying it from a specialty tri store (Endurosport), so I know I'll get a professional fit (they're certified).

Yeah, my friend bought her P2K "Sassy Blue" from them this summer ... and, when she telephoned them if they had her size, they mentioned that they had a couple of bikes, sizes, etc.... and, they would not sell one to her over the telephone, unless she actually came in to get sized and fitted properly, as she had never tried a Cervelo before ... as Cervelo's sizing is totally different than most other bike manufacturer's out there, especially in the TT setup position ... I believe she had about a 2-3 hour fitting, where they customized and cut whatever was necessary ....

They are a great source for all your cycling and triathlon needs ... too bad they aren't in the Ottawa area ... :( ...

Wow! Very nice!

I've been thinking Cervelo too, but I'll do my first race on my current, ancient road bike... :(

Yup, big thumbs up for Endurosport. I know Dan, the owner, and he would not just sell me a bike and not stand behind it 100%. He said that even if I get it all set up, take it home and it's still not right, they'll do whatever it takes to make it right, even if it's an entirely new bike.

She's one sweet ride.
I didn't know they had the new models out yet. I picked up her older sister in the spring, (Dual /04 w/ Ultegra 9). The only trouble I've had with her is the seatpost slipping. I am sure that removing the seatpost to transport her doesn't help.

That won't be hard considering I did 8:27 at IMLP in 2003! I'm hoping for 7:15-7:30 in Penticton this summer.

Oh, Lesley, less than 24 hours before your baby arrives home ... The excitement and anticipation that you must be feeling right now .... How are you able to stay so calm right now ... Is the nursery room ready for Vroom, yet?

Take care and look forward to hearing from your first hours with your new baby .... :P
