Triathlon's popularity is being recognized.

Something to shoot for perhaps.

Yeah, but dragging a canon around the ski course might be harder than you think. Have you thought this through?

The good thing is you'd probably get all the targets with a single shot.

Maybe a new sport: Team biathlon. Then your crew could not only load and fire the gun for you, but help you drag it around the course!

Any indication of what kind of distances?

It would put a new meaning to the term "Five rounds, fire for effect."

I think the way the CF CISM teams work is you have to have qualifying times to compete on behalf of the CF, then you enter various races (races that you or I would enter anyway) and submit your times to the CISM folk.

Info on how it works here:

It looks like they are aiming for Sprint, Olympic and Elite Sprint distance:

http://www.cftriathlon.ca/

I am hoping to qualify for the CF Invitational Championship in 2009 (part of the selection process for the team).

This year they used a 1:30 Sprint or a 3:00 Olympic (for women 1:25 and 2:50 for men) sanctioned race for the qualifying time to got out to the training camp.
