Even after P&P have stopped bashing him? Contador was humble, gracious and human all tour. Too many crashes, or too tired from the Giro, or both, he still fought like a champion.

Don't like him; never have. Has nothing to do with Phil and Paul.

Agreed... but with the dark cloud hanging over him, I didn't really want to see him winning stages or the GC, only to have them stripped away later. Shouldn't even be racing IMO.

Anyway - it's a happy day, let's not dwell on the negative. :)

It's the corrupt and inept UCI that needs to be fixed. Until a rider is officially suspended, they have the right to race.
I think people dislike Contador because of xenophobia.
Spanish cyclists are always the enemy to North American cycling "fans".
Fair skinned riders who speak English (or reasonably well) the hero's.
I'm generalizing.. but... seems to hold true.

To an extent, maybe. But I don't think it's at all odd for us to support Canadians first, then our close friends the Americans/Brits/Commonwealth! Much of what we value in terms of sports culture comes from the Brits, the spirit of fair play and being gentlemanly, things that aren't held nearly as dearly in Italian/Spanish sport (just watch soccer!).

Did I put that politically enough? ;)

Contador showed some perseverance by continuing to give everything he had even though he knew he had it lost on Thursday.

I hope he wins his next upcoming battle  .

Needless to say, I liked the Schleck sandwich on the podium. And congrats to Garmin-Cervélo!
