flexrun wrote:Thanks soooo much for your kind words of support everyone....you fellow maniacs are AWESOME!!! My bike I am told is toast. It was a nice carbon fibre made by giant. The elbow joint is one of the most difficult to rehab I am told, it is going to take many months and I may never get full range of motion. They like to keep the cast on as little as possible. This setback definitely sucks but I am very fortunate that I didn’t get hurt worse or killed. One thing I know is it’s not worth being bitter towards somebody as all it does is eat you up. I will stay positive and get healthy again. When they brought me to the hospital the paramedic told the nurse I was an athlete and the nurse said the alarm on the monitor will be going off as it thinks its abnormal my hr which was only 42 with no pain killers yet. My fitness is going to be a big help with getting better. My biggest challenge is going to be not doing too much, it feels like I ran a marathon and then some my whole body is aching but I am happy to be alive. things happened so quick yet it was like time stood still. Something like this just shows how precious life is and that we should live life to its fullest.
It’s been a bad year for me; first my mom passes away from cancer on Jan. 1st, then my calf muscle injury stopping me from making the paralympic team and now this. I am proud of my accomplishments and representing Canada at the Parapanams in Mexico. I hope to see some of you at some races in the future.
I know one thing, I will be back. My glass is half full, not half empty Never give up!
