Muskoka 70.3 anybody?

Hi,

I haven't posted in ages, but just wondering if anybody is going to Muskoka this weekend? I will be there with my family. First half Ironman for me (testing the waters), I also registered to Mont Tremblant 70.3 and full IM next year.

Gotta go to bed. Packed up and leaving early in the morning!

I hear there was a bike accident there yesterday. Apparently an elderly woman pulled out of a driveway and into the path of cyclists, causing a crash. One person broke their leg.

A Toronto woman is charged for not making a safe turn after a cyclist was hit in yesterday’s Muskoka Ironman race. Huntsville OPP says a woman was pulling on to Highway 35 from Seabreeze Road in Lake of Bays Township yesterday when she pulled in front of a group of oncoming cyclists. One of the cyclists hit her vehicle and was treated in hospital in Huntsville with a broken leg. Police remind all drivers to share the road with cyclists and pedestrian traffic.

Yes, this happened just a few minutes before I biked by them. The athlete was obviously in pain, holding his leg and very upset, and the elderly lady seemed very confused. I rhought at first that the car was blocking the road to an injured athlete to cover to view from us, until I biked by and then relized he had been hit. Another proof to my argument that elderly drivers should be tested for driving skills and eye exam every 5 years... Just don't get me started on that discussion! I feel terrible for that athlete. Hope he recovers well.

Personally, I saw drivers should be tested q2years. Alot can happen in five.

in ontario, drivers over 80 are required to do a vision test, knowledge test and group education session every 2 years.
