No, not our Irongirl, but the Iron Girl triathlon series. When I first saw the headline, I thought, COOL! But then I clicked on the link to see that it's a sprint tri: 500m/20K/5K. Not that there's anything wrong with that distance, but I really dislike when they use the term "Iron" for anything less than the 140.6 distance (yes, even IM70.3 bugs me).

Still, it's always great to have new races to do and bring new people into the sport.
To be fair, we've had this series for many years (Milton was my first race in '99):

Re: Iron Girl Canada
This looks cool! I agree that using the word "Iron" in reference to a tri that's not the Big Show seems weird. I saw so many signs at my 70.3 (Timberman) a couple of years ago that said, "You're an Ironman!" at the finish line and thought that was so strange. Of course at the time I was thanking my lucky stars that it wasn't an IM!

Topic sort of reminds me of the "famous" 1/4 marathon discussion....

Re: Iron Girl Canada
ah, I have warm fuzzies at being called "our Irongirl"
the way I see it - those that "know" know that it's not an Iron event.
