Ironman Mt Tremblant
Finished my second IM yesterday at Mt Tremblant!
Nice day, nice race! The last one I did was penticton, so the loop thing was new to me... it's a bit demoralizing to be halfway then have to run away from the finish line! But man the finish chute at Tremblant was amazing, great moment, really chill inducing.
Oh and that little out-and-back at the end if each bike lap is evil lol. Steep climbs, at 80k they were tough, at 170k they were diabolical.
Anyway I'd highly recommend this one, very enjoyable and strong community support. Felt very welcome all weekend.

I seem to recall you hate hills...
It's a bike course with multiple personalities. Most of the climbs are long and gradual so you just pick a gear and keep spinning, first half is mostly fast and aero.
But then there's the out and back at the end of the lap, about 15km with steep steep stuff. I was expecting rollers, but these don't really roll, momentum down doesn't make it far up the up! Tough stuff, especially at the end.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Great report and nice result!
BTW, I was trying to figure out how you could do 11h 54min for the race with a swim in the 1h50's so I looked at the official results and saw you've made a small typo in your race report.

12:54!!! Oops! . That's one way to cut an hour off your ironman time lol.
2009 I took 13:57.

How would you rate the IMMT course compared to IMC?

Penticton was a better course IMO.
Swim had the mass start. Single loop bike and run - mentally I find that easier to deal with. Bike course had longer climbs in Penticton but they weren't as steep, personally I found that easier to pace. Also the crowd support was more spread out along the course, in Tremblant it was 90% at the resort area, rest of it was sparse (st Jovite the exception).
Tremblant was nice in that the traffic was very separate or roads were closed entirely. And the Tremblant finish was incredible. Goosebumps. So many people, so loud, long finishing chute... that's seared into my mind. Also the wider community in Tremblant seems to genuinely love the race and racers, felt so welcome all week.
Guess it depends what's important to you, both were amazing in their own way.

Re: Ironman Mt Tremblant
Thanks for the info. IMMT was (though a trip to Canada next August isn't beyond the realm of possibility) on my list of to-do's and it's good to have positive reference on it - especially as we've both done IMC so the comparison holds a lot of validity.

Neat reading your blog post. Congrats on another successful finish.
Interesting about it being your last triathlon. There is so much sport as you mentioned and it is hard to do it all.
That being said, have any race wheels you need to sell? Cheap...

Haha sorry, never invested in race wheels, I'm too cheap. . Might still do some duathlons so just need to figure out what to do with my swim stuff.
