Yippee! My first 5km done!

Postby luvmybabies » Sun May 06, 2007 2:08 pm

Today I walked my first 5km race here in Erin, it was really fun and I pushed a little harder than usual and finished in 48:49. I walked with a friend and really enjoyed the experience altogether. We decided to sprint across the finish line which psyched Robbie-T out, he thought he saw me coming and then when he saw us running he sat back down thinking that can't be my wife  I do think that I will start working on my speed a bit more now, adding a bit more running to my outings. Also, I think I may start trying to get a little more distance, the 5km today really didn't hurt much at all :D Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather!

Bridie, congratulations -- now tell me truthfully, was doing the race less of a workout than chasing your boys around while Robbie races? ;-) Glad to hear you're becoming a walking/running addict, too. :)

You hit the nail right on the head! This was probably the most peaceful "me time" I have had in weeks:-) Hmmmmm, maybe I should walk slower next time. Or farther, I guess that would work too

Congrats Bridie- that is awesome! If you want to do the 10k in Waterloo and need a sitter, let me know, i'll see what my schedule is (any excuse to see those cutie petutie boys of yours!!).

I hope Rob remembers how well you treat him after a race and he is spoiling you rotten right now!!

Great work overall, i admire that you can balance looking after two active children and still train to walk a 5k!

Great work Mommy, we all had fun watching you finish your first race. I think you'll want to walk/run a half in your future. Good times!

Great work!

I did two with my son last year and will always have great memories of his "first race" before he was a year old. You'll treasure this forever.
