Cheryl's Wpg Police Half 2008 - #15 & counting......

Postby runcherylrun » Sun Apr 27, 2008 8:01 pm

My usual race reports tend to take on epic length’s & I really do have dozens of images & thoughts of today’s race bouncing around in my head…… but to be honest, I’m just too tired to put them all down.

So here’s the Readers Digest version :D :

Goal = PB………………. Mission accomplished !!!

Previous PB = 2:21:06 (Aug/2006) ……………. Today as per my Garmin = 2:16:23

Thanks to Mac Dwayne for challenging & believing in my ability.
(although I was cursing you royally on my 5 mile run tonight – I soooooooooo did not want to go out the door)

Thanks to Pam – How cool is it to have a Boston Marathoner pace you……. After just running Boston on Monday. Thank you for “paying it forward”.

Let me tell you though – she is one TUFF pacer ---

Pam first half of run “slow down” “take it easy”…… Pam second half of run “come on, let’s go” “pick it up a bit” “come on”

And thanks to every single person who wished me well along the course & afterward…… I wasn’t wearing my glasses & didn’t recognize most of them …… but thanks !!!

So….. what did I learn….. well I’ll let you in on a little secret…… earth shattering news actually. :shhh: :shhh:

Carrying less weight makes you faster.
Running faster (speed training) makes you faster.
A stronger core can make you faster.

Basically I got to see some positive results – makes all those cold, miserable days ALMOST worth it.

Just 4 short weeks to Edinburgh – bring it on !!!!! :D :D

One Word:

Fantastic :D :D
Congrats on your awesome PB.

Did Pam hug you after the race....as you know she gives awesome hugs...you lucky girl to be paced by her...she rocks in my books.

And ...so do you, my friend :D :D

Thanks Cheryl
As I told you on the phone. I knew from Natalie's picture's that you had the PB, just wasn't sure what your time was.
As great as it was having Pam pace you, you my dear are the one who put one foot in front of the other repeat, repeat. Ypu've done your homework, alot of it hard in the cold winter that Mother Nature has seen fit to share with us. You will indeed ROCK in Scotland. Way to go chickie... Proud you should be of today's efforts, as I'm sure the coach is....

Congratulations Cheryl on your hard-earned PB.
Best of luck in Scotland. You are so ready!

Shaving 5 minutes off your PB is awesome!!! Indeed, that's proof that the training and tactics are working.

Cheryl, as always I'm super proud of you today! You took the conservative race plan from last night and pretty much smashed it! Good for you!

As for the cursing, well, I thought I might get some of that and I was prepared for it :-)

Next PB in Scotland!

Dwayne

eta: Hey, if memory serves, didn't Pam pace you to your previous PB in '06? Maybe you should bring her to Scotland instead of Denis :P :P

Way to go Cheryl. Nice little warm up race. Can't believe it is only 4 weeks to go. You're going to have a blast. Just take it easy for a couple of days. Don't want to mess things up now.. Congrats on the BP

You should listen to your coach. He knows what he's talking about. We can TOTALLY break five hours in Scotland, and I'm sure I'm not busy that weekend.

And congratulations on a gutsy race. I'm pretty sure you were cursing me down Portage avenue in that last stretch, but I'm glad you sucked it up and got it done!

Way to go!

Congrats on your PB on a tough course Cheryl.
