Had a great day for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk/Run To Cure Diabetes. Held in the town of Oromocto, right next to Canadian Forces Base Gagetown. Over 100 registered for the 5k run and several hundred others for the 5k walk. Most of the runners were Military Engineers (Chimo!!) and what a great group of men/women. Most impressive sight of the day was when an entire troop of young Sappers (that's what a military engineer is properly called) ran out and surrounded the lone female from their troop as she finished the last hundred metres.
As for FBP, I had a great run and managed a PB - 27:10. No danger of me selected for the Beijing Olympic team but very satisfying none the less.
Most important was the fact that $40,000 was raised for Type 1 diabetes research. I continue to hope, pray and believe that in my son's lifetime the disease that he and 200,000 other Canadians live with will be cured.
