I think I can, I think I can..... CN tracks of Glory race

Postby Mouse » Sun Sep 21, 2008 6:10 pm

I think I can, I think I can........ Make that I know I can!!!!!
I stood beside KBO at the start line, we chatted a bit. I told her it seemed strange not to see Jackie beside her today....... I asked if I could start with her. My original plan was to run 8 and 2's. Then I said how about 9, and 1's. Well the horn went and so did I. By .2 into the race I decided to try and run the whole way....... I DID just that with a quick stop at the water stations. Gotta figure out something for the lack of salavia glads to keep my throat moist so that I can run straight thru. This is a two looped course, just past the 5KM mark I see NewFinnlopper and her boys, thow my gloves at her. (Lisa I'll phone you to make plans to get them from you) Almost at the Duck Pond, there's Darth Tater, and the Tater Tot, cheering me on. I yelled Thanks Tater..... and kept on going. Now past the finishline. I've managed to stay in front of the male leaders. Yippie. My split is 31:08. Feeling strong. Keep it going girl, you're doing great. Quick stop for the water... Up that little hill, keep it going. They had every kilometer marked, so I kept looking at my watch to see, how even my pace was. I have memory of a sieve, can't remember all the splits, but remembered the most important one 1/2 way..... At about the 7Km mark I'm thinking 1:04 something, then at the 8Km, I'm saying 1:04 something for sure. The 9Km sign comes up, 1 Km to go. I glance at the watch ,and say Hey maybe 1:03 something. A few steps later I all of a sudden feel very heavy, and start to think I just ran out of gas. Come on Mouse you can do it.... Spencer use those angel wings and help me make it to the finish line. I'm wearing Maniac clothing top to bottom. I have on the buff, short sleeve orange shirt, and thanks to Marg from her visit to the Peg for her 1/2 marathon in june I have the socks..... If the orange power doesn't work nothing will...... This lady and man pass me. I say to them pull me along with you guys.... We have probably about .3 Km to go. The man slows down a bit, and talks to me. It really helped, and my pace was starting to pick up a bit again. I told him to go catch the lady in front of us. He left me, but I don't think he caught her..... Two other ladies have now decided to turn it into a sprint finish. The spirit was willing, but the body just isn't quite strong enought yet.... A big Thank you to the Maniac's standing near the finish line cheering for me.... I made it a cross the line in 1:03:33, official time. Woo Hoo. Some pretty consistant running for someone who had the time off as I did.
Kelodie it must have been all that sugar from those great cupcakes that helped me get around this course so well today.. I felt strong, except for that one little part..... Nice way to end the season, even thou it feels like I'm just getting started.......
Hilly 5Km in Mpls in two weeks......

Why practice running slow? It comes naturally!

It was great to see you out there RUNNING today. You spend so much time in support roles at these races that I was glad you finally got to get out there and show everybody and yourself that you've really made your comeback.

WAY TO GO MOUSE!!!

Compare that post to ones you made just one short year ago. Around this date in 2007 you were posting cancer update #7.

You are a phenom mouse. Few could do what you have done.

Congrats on a great race and a fantastic recovery. Best to you!
