Great job Laura. I am in awe of your journey and truly loved your race report. It is so honest with the tidbits of sarcasm and description of emotion and physical endurance of your 20 hours.
I am really looking forward to meeting you in Ottawa.
Hope you are recovering well.
Cheers,
Jill

Congrats on a great achievement!

I think the term Ultra describes the runner more than the race...

There's a 24hr in Ottawa in September right in your back yard. Run around a 400 metre track. Hey, that's even crazier than ultraspirit's 1 mile track. :D

I like to think of it as the Hip-dislocator 24hr Ultra. Come for the ultra, stay for the chiro adjustment!
I have never run on a track in my life, but for a brief 10 minute conversation last summer I was considering running this thing. I'd rather run two back-to-back 100 milers on trail than 24hrs on that track.

Great report. Didn't have a chance to read it until now. Thoroughly enjoyed it and very impressed with what you accomplished.

Just a quick point......but one that needs to be stressed further is that you DID NOT quit. It's a 24hr race. You run however far you can in 24hrs. You completed 80miles within that time, which is awesome and you should be very proud. There are so many people who have run for far longer (timewise) and completed far less distance. You succeeded in having a great race, experience and willed your body over a very long distance. Huge congratulations!

Hope your recovery is going well!

I have been running really well since Tuesday. My only sore point is on top of the right foot where the shoe did a number on the bone. I am so incredibly grateful that I stopped before serious injury. The right foot was really swollen and angry when I "stopped." I'm just happy I had the humility to know that walking for another 4 hours would destroy the foot and not prove anything (except I was stupid!).

Instead, I'm thinking about what race I want to do 4/18. I'm leaning toward the Kansas Marathon.
