eme's WPS Half

Postby eme » Sun May 02, 2010 12:44 pm

I am a little disappointed in my effort/results today.

I was hoping for to PB again at this race but it wasn't meant to be.

I think that watching the weather forecast all week got me in to a whiney mood for this race.

The first couple of miles were tight calves, the middle miles were okay but not great, the last three miles sucked. I was letting my head tell me what I could do and not my body (no pain, just suckiness). I have to learn to tell the brain to shut up!

2:20:51 was the end result and I got rained on for the last 2 or 3 miles (with the wind blowing).

Okay, enough whining, time to plan the next one (for when it is warm out!).

As always, it was great to see some Maniacs and meet a couple new ones!

It was nice to meet you today. :D

That rain... oh... I have a few choice words for it. Did you get hit with that awful downpour? I can't remember when it was, but it just came down in sheets. :(

Tough day for a run out there, but you got it done!

What's next for you? You doing the AirForce Half?

Glad I can put a face to a name now! Good to meet you!

It's amazing how the brain can effect the body so much.

Great race!!! I could have done without that down pour too! lol

Congrats Colleen. They can't all be PB's. You got it done in not such great weather as well. Sorry about the downpour that you ended up running in. Look at the bright side it wasn't the snow that was in the forcast.

Yeppers, she would have...it started up about 2 hours into the race as BingeRunner and I were heading to the food tent....

Way to gut it out Colleen. Better weather next time!

Good job today C. Sorry it wasn't the pb you'd hoped for. I tried to find you after the race but with the pouring rain and all the people it was pretty much madness.

Good work EME despite not PBing.

Those conditions sound NASTY! Kind of like ATB a year ago. Not fun!

Congrats!

Rainy windy races are the worst. It seems fair weather races and getting rarer and rarer! Good job and sticking it out anyway. This just wasn't your day to PB. But, it will happen!

Ah well. You can't PB every race. The wind, cold, and rain were definitely factors in this race.
Plan for 2017:
END-SURE 25k...done! 2:30:23
Spruce Woods Ultra volunteering...done!
Kettle Moraine 100
Western States 100 crewing
Falcon Fatass 50k
Superior 100

Sorry it didn't go like you wanted. :( I was thinking of you all out there while we were driving back home yesterday. Running in the rain and wind is no fun. Next time....
P.S.-I also noticed that where we had coffee (Cafe du soleil) is not there anymore. :( Replaced by something else.

I missed you out there ( I missed a LOT of you guys yesterday :( :( ) ...I was fortunate enough to miss that horrible downpour...I was thinking of everyone out there running in it. But like others have said, at least you were out there!! Hope you dried off and warmed up afterwards...
22 halfs (PR 1:42:02) :)
5 full (PR 3:48:21)
...and a smattering of adventure and trail races thrown in for good measure!
