My A goal for this race was to get close to 23:30 but I would be OK with the low 24’s. The weather was cool and clammy but turned out to be great for the run.
The first K was the usual stampede but I found it pretty easy and fast at 4:10. I was working hard now but in control and my times were holding up in the 4:40’s. It was going better than I had expected. I seemed to be passing a lot of people but realized they were 10K runners who had started ahead of us. I was pretty tired at the start of the last K but still felt OK. I didn’t want to go too hard too soon for fear of blowing up before the finish. I tried to hold my pace, which had slowed a bit, until the last 500 metres or so. I gave it all I had left at that point and as I approached the finish I could not find the clock. I crossed the line and stopped my watch at 23:18. I had made my A goal! I found out later my race time was actually 23:13 - 35 seconds better than my previous best for this race 3 years ago. I had also won my AG SM65-69.
Palesnail – Sorry we didn’t meet up but I couldn’t find you in the crowd. Congratulations to you and your wife on your excellent times. You’re one fast snail!

Very nice result!
next up:
This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day
So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day
This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

Nice running 5k! Congrats!
Re: 2011 Burlington Moon in June
Thanks 5km.
Nicely done, and congratulations on the AG win. Enjoy your new shoes
That's too bad that we didn't get to meet up. I'll likely hit a few local races by the end of the season though, so maybe we can meet then.
Congrats again!

My son and I will be entering the Canada Day 5K run on at Spencer Smith Park. It's a good course for a fast time - out and back along the waterfront and down the beach strip path.

If you're going to be there, we can likely meet up.
