Congrats on the race, and reading about your angel made me smile. I'm sorry you had such a freaky experience after the race, but glad that you had the help of some random strangers.

We need to track down Marc and make him an official Maniac.
I'm sorry that my chatting with you at half caused you to lose sight of him for awhile.

You are strong and brave and will get that sub 4 Sue.

I hope you know how much my family and I enjoyed spending time with you. You are a wonderful Maniac :D

I wanted to add a few post race, post travel reflections on Vancouver.

1) Friday night M&G was wonderful, thanks Jennifer. Also for looking after me post-marathon etc...even though you made me walk over a mile from the train stop. j/k, I know it was my idea.
2) the marathon course was beautiful and I would definitely do it again
3) Sunday post-marathon M&G was a lot of fun, I'm glad I was well enough to go
4) it was so good to catch up with Maniacs I had met before and meet some new ones.
5) I'm trying to track down Marc and his wife. They will be getting a private invite to become part of this great community of Maniacs. :D
6) thanks to all those who text'd and messaged me privately, it means a lot knowing you care.
7) MaryMac-you've now carried my bag two years in a row, thanks.....

A special shout out to ChunkyMonkeyMelonHed, (aka r4l/aka Cheryl) and family for taking me in and making me a part of their family. I'm sorry I'm so hard to get along with.

Anyway, I have Manitoba Half-marathon to do in June, then we'll see where this running journey takes me.

Amazing race report Susan, with great perspective too. It was nice to meet up with you again over the course of the weekend and I'm happy to hear you are recovering well. I will be honest that the pain/soreness I was feeling after my race was all put aside when Jennifer & Mike had informed me that you were AOL and you were believed to be at medical. Thankfully this scare passed by and you were able to meet up with us at the post-race M&G.
PB’s (official race results)

Crazy how a random comment between runners at the outset lead to a "running angel" during and post race. I love the fact Marc and family/friends stuck at your side; this type of support makes me appreciate the running community all the more.

Congratulations on a great race Habs - you did excellent and have a fabulous story to tell down the road :D

Congrats on another marathon completed, Habs and thanks for that great RR! I'm glad that you're ok. It's amazing how so many members of the running community support one another, both during training and during races.

Yep, Marc and his crew should get Honourary Maniac invites to our lovely forum.

Susan, a scary moment at the end but I'm glad you were ok in the end. Hard to believe there was no space blankets at the finish and then expected to walk forever to gear check.

Very cool story about Marc during the race. One that you'll remember forever. I'm glad you're able to take away many positives after a solid training cycle and a fine marathon experience. Congrats!

nothing like "leaving it all on the course" Susan.

glad to hear your OK now and I also love your attitude towards a day that wasn't exactly what you had planned.

Marc sure sounds like a standup guy and I'm glad you had him there to take care of you.

I love how you sometimes get that marathon friendship that happens on the course - and in this case, he earns even more points for taking extra care of you!

Congrats on your race Habs and your perspective on it. I've got some good pictures of you at the meet and greet - I will get them loaded soon. It was great to reconnect - maybe the next time, we'll do that in Alberta! :D

Just catching up and came across your race report. What a shock but thank goodness you are ok now. It's a pity you didn't get the time you wanted but that is part of the challenge of this running game. Hpoefully you will get back into the swing of things again really soon and have a fantastic half marathon next month.
