I missed last year’s race due to a serious health issue, so I was eager to run the race this year. As luck would have it, I injured my foot in a non-running incident and couldn’t run for about two weeks in December. I trained as well as I could in January, running 84 kilometres outside and on the treadmill.
The weather for the race was good, considering it is January. As usual a very high quality field from all over Ontario showed up. So once again, I had no dreams of an AG placement. I ran as well as I could while keeping a close eye on my heart rate.
I finished in a Gun Time of 46:01.2 and a Chip Time of 45:54.5 which was good enough for an 8th place finish in the 70-74 AG of 16.
Thanks for reading.

Congrats on your race. Stay away from these non-running activities. Last year, I injured my knee doing yoga. I missed 6 weeks of running.
