Bebette's Boston bitter-sweet report--the excutive summary

Postby Bebette » Mon Apr 17, 2006 8:57 pm

I had a blast, felt strong, paced myself well and was on track for a sub-3:40 finish. Unfortunately, my calves betrayed me, and had to battle through cramps for the last 10 miles--running 5-10 minutes, stopping 30-45 sec to stretch the calves and feeling I could seize anytime. Still, I met my original goal to finish under 3:50, which is not too shabby in the circumstances.

I plan to come back next year. I need to deal with some unfinished business.

Detailed report to come later.
I run because it's fun.

In another life:
3 marathons including Boston twice (PB: 3:47), 6 halfs (PB: 1:45), 6 10k (PB: 46:41) and 3 5ks (PB: 21:00)

Yep, very proud indeed, and you should be too. Only one minute off your PB on a much tougher course than Wineglass... very impressive! 8)

Way to go, Bebette! Even with some troubles, you still came through with an excellent time. :) Thanks for the teaser... looking forward to the full report.

I know you'll have many more chances to do Boston, in addition to next year. I hope to be there with you one year. :D

Congrats Edith! Boston does it's best to hit you where you're most vulnerable. When I saw your finishing time, I worried that your BQ was 3:45 and that you had just missed it. Glad to have been corrected that it's 3:50!

Looking forward to your full report.
