First Race of the Season

Postby endurox » Sun Apr 11, 2010 1:11 pm

I am so happy to have run my fastest 5K since 2005 this morning! (22:34) I was 11 seconds off my PR and the next 5K will be after a couple of 10Ks and a half marathon so I will be gunning for that PR. Its what I needed after living on that plateau for the last few years, and nagging injuries. I seem to need a good solid 18 months of training before I see results again. Its the push I needed to keep the momentum going. My age group is so tough but its what seems to push me. I can't wait to turn 45 in August! I ran a steady hurtin' pace but the big thing was I stayed focused. Last year I ran higher mileage, this season I have been running harder tempos and track work. Its all coming together again. Cannot wait for my fall marathon!

Awesome stuff, Cathy - super fast. Congrats! Looking forward to your next 5K race report. Good luck with your upcoming races!

I hope we get to run into each other at another race... it was nice to meet you at the Trail Race in the fall, albeit briefly. Perhaps I'll find you at an upcoming Roadkill track session (if my little leg issues resolve themselves)?

Yay you! All that tongue dragging speedwork paid off. I do think that 2010 is going to a be a fabulous racing year for you. I can't wait until Chicago.

Way to go Cathy. I think the cool temp helped us run fast. We are used to running into the wind from Tuesday night track wkouts. lol.

Solid! What is it they say? HIgher Faster Stronger? That's you this season!
22 halfs (PR 1:42:02) :)
5 full (PR 3:48:21)
...and a smattering of adventure and trail races thrown in for good measure!
