Do the race! :) I'm always surprised by how much the race environment can do for my motivation and attitude after the race is over - if you are excited to race then I think it's worth the fee. That reminds me, need to get a race of my own in the calendar

do it!

I just got kinda suckered into a 5k for Friday as well! (I need to register!)

IB is doing the Canada Day race, and, Jo-Jo had talked about meeting us there. She asked me on Friday if I was doing the race (noting that she could watch the kids)......I realized that I had no excuse not to do it!
i run for me.

I am watching Hoarders...a man has 2000 rats in his house. I had to stop eating my delicious dinner my husband made me.
Lightning :)

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

Feeling more confident that I will be ok for the marathon. I ran 30km last week and am up to a 1:30 long run. I am only a week behind where I was when I trained for my last marathon and I survived.

I was thinking about you yesterday when I was on the TM. How is your running?

Which marathon are you doing? Why does it seem early for a 30k run already? (or am I just hoping you're being a keener and that I don't have to run 30k anytime soon?)

FP - yay for a new stroller!

Anners - kick that hubby to the curb! (joking :))

pts - do it!!!

IG - yay for racing :D What's your goal?

San Francisco Women's Race on Oct 16 and that was 30km total. Neither of us have to run that far just yet, phew! I think your marathon is at the end of October?

If only I could read! Whew!!

I'm doing Hamilton the first week in Nov. I'm at about 45k/wk right now. I'm only up to 17k for long runs, but I suspect I'll be ramping up pretty quickly. I'm supposed to get my schedule from my coach soon :D

jes and Coll, you gals are both superstars! :)

I think friday is on, but I may not get a run in otherwise. I was supposed to be working on my dissertation all day today, but that had to be cancelled (I was working with an editor who had to cancel). so, no run tonight (working instead) and I don't want to run tommorow night before the 'race' friday am. Boo to no runs until friday (I did get 16 min done monday but if I had known it was my only other run I would have gone longer!).

I have decided my 'schedule' is as follows:
1 X 15min run
1X 20 min run
1 X long run (30 min this week, then 40, and up from there).

It is not much, but I am enjoying it!

Gotta start back somewhere pts! Sounds like a good plan :D

For anyone interested, I've started a log in the journal section.

Marathon training day 1: check :D (just 7k, but pushing the stroller into the wind made it tough!)

Resistance training! Just think how fast you will be without the stroller :)

That's what I keep telling myself! I don't usually wear my garmin when I have the stroller, so I have no idea how slow I am. It was just too sad the first few times I did it. I just map out my route after to check the distance.

I can relate to that! I did 6km yesterday without my garmin, but I did know the approximate time.

And yes pts, you are off to a great start!

5k done in almost 35:00 exactly (I saw 35:00 so I probably crossed at 35:02 or something). Not sure chip time, but my goal was 7:00/km so I am happy with it! MAN, it is hot out there! Race report will be posted later. :D

Great job pts! It's great to get that first one under your belt and get the taste for it again. I was so nervous standing at the start of my first race back!

5k race for me this morning. Not a PB, but pretty darn close. 26:08, avg pace 5:14, 21/83 in my age group (30-39). I'll have one more shot at my PB (25:50) late in the year after most of my marathon cycle is done, so I'm hoping to get there by then. I'm really quite happy with my effort today. My last two 5ks I've lost focus in the middle portion and lost time there. But today I kept it together :D It didn't hur that I spotted my friend about 200m ahead at 2k and spent the next km trying to chase her down. I got her when she walked at the water station. We pushed each other for the next 2k and then I passed her when she slowed at about 4.5k. It was her first 5k so I'm super proud of her (and happy I had her to chase today!)
