TSN announced today it has acquired exclusive, multi-year, English-language broadcast rights for the Tour de France - the world's premiere cycling event. As the exclusive Canadian broadcasters, TSN and TSN2 will deliver complete coverage of the Tour de France beginning this July.
TSN and TSN2's Tour de France coverage will be available in High Definition - marking the first time the race has been broadcast in HD on Canadian English television.
The Tour de France is the second major international sporting event acquired by TSN today. Early today, the network announced it reached a broad multimedia rights agreement with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for UEFA EURO 2012 and UEFA EURO 2016.
"TSN is home to the world's biggest sporting events and there is nothing bigger in cycling than the Tour de France," said Stewart Johnston, President of TSN. "We are looking forward to putting the national spotlight on the race and capturing all of the excitement and drama as it unfolds this summer in HD."
The historic Tour De France features the best cyclists in the world racing throughout France over three weeks in pursuit of the coveted yellow jersey. The 98th edition of the Tour de France runs from July 2 to 24, 2011. The race will be will be made up of 21 stages covering close to 3,500 kilometres.

Have to admit, with all the scandals, of recent past, haven't really been into this year's Tour, but, once the games begin on Saturday .... who knows ... though, my PVR will be set to record, regardless ...
Will it be Contador or the Schleck Brothers this year ??

Broadcast will be on TSN2 (not TSN). Stage 1 is this Saturday at 8AM. No Prologue this year.

Check your cable package. I don't know which channels you get.

Andy, check this link. On the right hand side it tells you which channel you'll find it on depending on who your service provider is:

Mine too! Looks like a lot of sprinters stages, so other than the Team Time Trial the first week will be a bit of a "watch the last 10km" kind of thing.
It's crazy that the Contador thing wasn't decided before this though... now if he wins, there would be 3 Grand Tour wins up for DQ in the August appeal - two Tours de France and one Giro!

TSN2 is not part of my current packag, FFS .. Wish it was back on OLN Network ..
Not too eager to pay for the service, at the moment, so will be living vicariously through this thread for the month of July ...

Call Rogers and see if there's a different package you can get that includes TSN2, then cancel it in August.

Very much what I'll be doing I think (though with Shaw not Rogers). I"m pretty sure I can order the channel for $2.95 a month and will just cancel it in August. That's what I've done in the past for basketball.

The only reason we subscribed to the OLN channel was to watch the Tour de France. Now I suppose we'll have to drop it and switch to TSN...

Who on Saxo Bank is going to help out Contador this year?
Looking forward to seeing how Leopard-Trek (the Schleck brothers' team) does this year.
But my heart will still be with Ryder (my birthday twin) and Garmin-Cervelo.

If you don't get TSN2 and are torrent-savvy...
http://cyclingtorrents.nl/
I use it a lot - downloaded Tour of California, some Giro stages I'd missed, and lots of cyclocross in the winter! It's great.

This is the other good part - they're rebroadcasting in the evening for those who don't have PVRs. Not sure if it will be Versus' "enhanced" evening coverage, or just a repeat of the morning broadcast.

Who would have imagined this scenario? It was very devastating watching the pack go down in the 1st big crash....

The crashes were pretty spectacular! Good thing nobody was seriously hurt or knocked out.
Flat stages aren't always boring and predictable! A good crash close to the end can change everything.

Grrrrr... This is the only time I've been disappointed with Shaw. In order to get TSN2 I have to order a whole sports package for $10. That's a lot of money just so I can watch the Tour for a month. I do get it on another channel but not at a convenient time and I don't have a PVR, or VCR for that matter.

I think you might be able to watch it on the Internet through Versus.
