Lance was either really drained, or just didn't care to pick it up for 1-2 seconds at the end, which would have enabled him to get sixth at the Texas 70.3 tri.

Re: Lance slogging in and getting edged into 7th at Texas 70
He has been interviewed stating that his gut locked up unexpectedly, which caused the slow down/walking. He has also said he had no clue that guy was chasing him down at the finish.
I don't think any of us can say that hasn't happened in either training or racing.

How much would you love to smoke past lance in the last couple feet of a triathlon.
In order to catch a fish, you have to drink like a fish.

He was cooked. It's too bad some are slagging him for walking past his daughter who was trying to put on his medal but the guy was cooked. He barely looked over when Jordan Jones rushed passed him. Good on Jordan Jones, race to the line - he most likely needs the 6th place prize money more than Lance.

+1.........But the papers need something to talk about, so they tack on this "daughter thing" dilemma.

What I found interesting is a couple of comments indicating that it's "bush league" to sprint past a competitor in the last 100m. Has anyone heard this before? that never would have crossed my mind - I don't do triathlons but certainly in my running races I try to pick off whoever I can right up to the finish line.

Nothing wrong with taking your opponents at the end of a race .

He was hi-fiving and was fair game as far as I am concerned.
My question is what to do if you are sprinting for a PB in a race and in the last 100 meters realise you are about to pass the lead female and they have a tape up for her to break. (Not that it's likely to happen to me).

This almost happened to me in Vancouver last year: I got the lead female with about 500m left to go and made sure I kicked hard enough to get across the line before the tape and cameras closed in. If I hadn't got her when I did, I was planning on jogging it in so that I'd be well out of her way (perhaps easier to do when I was already a few minutes off a PB). The year before, at the exact same race, my buddy was in the same situation and ended up having to slither around one of the guys holding the tape.

Lance replied to those allegations with the following two Tweets:
@lancearmstrong wrote:To the fools in certain parts of the press who are saying I intentionally "ignored" my very own daughter at that finish of yesterday's race ... that's below the belt and shame on you for insinuating as much. I would NEVER do that to any of my 5 kids. Ever.
