I don't normally go to the gym on Mondays because I run in the AM, but I have a few weeks before marathon training starts, so I decided I would squeeze in that extra day. Way back when I first joined this gym we started with deadlifting kettlebells and I then I tried the bar deadlifts a few times, but never with too much weight. I had forgotten though when I first tried it that I had set a goal to be able to deadlift my own body weight (134 lbs). Managed to do it today!

today's workout:
5 x 1 - 3 deadlifts trying for failure (got up to 135lbs)
5 x 3 overhead press @ 12kg

because there are no 10kg kettlebells I was stuck at 8kg for the press FOREVER. Today I managed 3 reps with the 12kgs doing double press. Definitely getting stronger.
The rumours are true......

Great job, fe.rmt!

Today was "spot a maniac" Monday for me - headed out for a run, and who should i see waving at me as he drove by? is it a lost tourist looking for directions? is it a creepy old man? no, it's dgrant!

6 km and change in light rain. Glad to get out there - my legs are feeling great, but I still can't shake this cold.

Ran a little farther than planned this morning - 10km instead of 8km. Felt really great running this morning so I decided to add an extra hill to my run.

More rain here in Ottawa so I'll throw my bike back on the trainer this evening.

Good Monday morning, or at least I'm trying to tell myself it's a good morning. I had trouble falling asleep last night and then was woken at 4:00 a.m. by the sound of a barfing cat. So instead of going to the gym this morning as per the usual plan, I slept in until about 7:00 and will go tonight after work.

It was a pretty good weekend - slept in Saturday and otherwise did not do much, and it was exactly what I needed after being SO tired last week. Yesterday morning I had a great 16 km run. Although happy to stop, I felt strong throughout and a lot more "normal" compared to last week's efforts. A couple more easy weeks and then tiime to start looking ahead to NYC.

Congrats to all the racers this weekend :)

Today should be a rest day after yesterdays Goddess 1/2 marathon but my BRF ( best running friend) has a flex day so we are riding!!! Just an easy 60 min flat ride to shake the legs out. Yesterdays race was a very hilly course!

an extremely dissapointing run this morning, I wouldn't even call it a run. Total burn out, better be good for Saturdays Abbotsford Police run. Signed up for the 10k with heartbreak hill at the 5 k mark.

Anyone else doing the run???

8k done this morning. My legs felt heavy and sluggish the whole time, but I think that's because I've started riding my spin bike at home in the evenings again. Just 10-20 min each evening, but that's enough!

Ha ha! Yes you can assume that "someone" (with a name that starts with J) got up to clean it up! And the culprit just watched me with his big green eyes... At least it was "just" a hairball, so not a big cleanup job.

I was going to swim this morning but every time I attempt to get off my couch my calves scream in protest. Can't remember the last time they were this sore... just walking the puppy this morning was a challenge. So I think I will pass on the bike/swim today and just go to yoga this evening (it is runner/cyclist yoga... maybe it will be good for my aching muscles??? )

giving blood this afternoon.

RMT and post-race glow today. My legs were achey all night, so I tossed and turned. Ah well. I'll do short easy runs this week, then start marathon training next week.

Kind of a breakthrough run today. After wussing out at 7.5K on Saturday due to several pains, I changed my game plan. I wore my ultra compression shorts with soccer shorts on top to try and silence my hip, groin and hamstring noises. Worked pretty well and I did 12K for the first time in many months. Only another 30K to go....
