Tuesday!!

Postby ultraslacker » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:28 am

My ambitious plans for today are to swim in the morning and trail run in the evening.

But given that it's 4:30am and I have been wiiiiiide awake for the past hour, I'm not sure how much energy I'll have today! :) A nap or two may be in order...

happy tuesday, everyone!

I'm going to do an easy 5k later. Maybe with the backpack home from work, or maybe with a friend tonight.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold - 5 days before a race...

Feel better soon RA!

Running Room tonight - not sure what they have scheduled, but that's what I'll do, provided the thunderstorms stay away.

Race day for me! There's a 5 x 2 km relay at lunch today to raise money for the GCWCC. I'll run over with some colleagues - hopefully they don't tire me out before the race!

Have fun on your race, Scrummy! Hope it's not too hot and muggy for you...
I'm off running this week due to tendonitis in my foot/ankle, per my physio, Éric. Also giving time for the blisters to heal. Might bike ride; might catch up on gardening. Beautiful summer day here!

5K the hilly way done in muggy weather this morning holding a good pace the whole way. Winds were pretty strong with a head wind much of the way. Loved the wind! It was muggy out there! Rain has yet to move in here but it due to arrive soon!

Just under 9km this morning. Other than the mugginess, it was nice outside - overcast, No sun, and a slight breeze. Started to pour rain just as I finished my run.

Sitting in trafffic just outside Montreal. On our way home from Quebec. Going from 28 degrees and sunny to (from what I've heard), downpours at home :? . May not get any running in tonight but did lots of hiking yesterday and weather is suppose to clear up for a run tomorrow. Starting to stiffen up sitting in a car for so long :(

A solo 5k in the beautiful sun (pleasantly too warm, if that makes sense) at lunch today. I took a different path which took me past a water fountain (yippee!), and it was great to try something else.

Probably the gym tonight. :)

Apparently, I still remember how to swim :D. First swim in over six months done at lunch, just a short easy one to get back in to the swing of things.

opted for yoga instead of swimming... thought it would be kinder to my poor legs, which are pretty tired from last night. Rode my bike to yoga and then to run an errand, then back up the huge hill to my house... my legs are a little shot now. Hopefully they will be ok for trail run tonight! :)

I had BIG plans for fitness today, and it all got derailed by a migraine last night. Today I just feel like crap. Migraine is pretty much gone, but the migraine hangover sucks.

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day, Hot Yoga and CrossFit :)

Trail Running in the rain - just enough cooling effect to save energy, not too slippery because of the foliage = paradise. Added a loop and felt even better. Lighting under the canopy can be tricky, but if you know the trails to begin with, and you just ran the one you're repeating - might even go faster!

Need a waterproof cell phone holder - plastic bags tend to condense water - any ideas? Some jackets have a waterproof pocket. Looking everywhere for an affordable and packable waterproof jacket. Anyone?
During any successful session, one might and should have a moment of truth, "should I continue or just walk home?". If you don't break down, the same thing might happen a few hundred steps later, but you already dealt with that issue. This usually happens in the second half, anyways. The satisfaction one derives later, when at home, is extremely gratifying, and is a build up like no other to further efforts.
(The "Lord, have mercy!" anecdote.)

I love my waterproof Sugoi jacket, but it does not have pockets.

I use a ziploc bag... put my phone and ID, etc, in there and seal it up, then stick it in whatever pocket or pack I have. Hasn't failed me yet...
