Olympic Friday

Postby HCcD » Fri Jul 27, 2012 6:20 am

What a better way to start off the 2011 London Olympic Games than with a rest day ...

It's also my nephew's 21sth b-day today .... How did he grow up so fast ???

Have a great day, Maniacs ... Hope you recovered well from celebrating your RM's B-day celebrations with DQ Blizzard, yesterday ... :P

Well I've been a lazy a$$. My day got side-tracked yesterday and I just wasn't in the mood for running. So 65 mins today.

Rest day (most likely). It's scheduled but I've been running so much - I like it!

Last night was the first successful threshold workout since my injury.
4.5k w/u,
2x 1km w 60s rest - 3:49, 3:51,
2:30 rest
4k continuous - 4:08, 4:06, 3:56, 3:54
3min rest
2x 1km w 60s rest - 3:42, 3:41,
3k c/d

That gave me hope that I'm actually getting somewhere! (For ref, I was able to run at my max those individual k's anywhere from 3:35-3:23). But considering I've been finding 4:45 hard lately, this is quite an improvement!

I still have no hope in the world for the Toronto 10miler (used to be in 1:04 shape), but my sights are still on for Chicago's sub 3.

Dental surgery today. Being sedated so I have to get someone pick me up after surgery.
So...about to head out to walk to appointment...should take me about 45 minutes.

Then...hopefully I will be groggy but still alert enough to watch the Olympic opening ceremonies :D

No cable at home, so no Olympic watching for me!

Hoping to get a 4k run in tonight to see how my ankle is doing. If all is well, I'll be in prime shape for my long run this weekend :D

Denise, I don't have cable either- I'm hoping I can get a live stream through CTV (or I may have to call my aunt for an NBC username and "hide" myself in the US...) I'm very excited!!!!! I will run 6-8km this morning.

I'm on vacation and loving having no schedule for a change. I ran 5km this morning and I'm off to yoga soon. Then I'll be watching the Opening Ceremonies and toasting Pam's (PrairieKid) hard work over the last year making them happen. Fingers crossed they go off without a glitch!

No cable at home either- CTV is free over the air. :) (plus whatever else we watch online)

I'll be home watching- otherwise it's a lazy day at home for me with some chores. I have 2 forced rest days today and tomorrow (hair thing), but the rest of my runs this week have been great. Back at it Sunday :).

Not a rest day for me, although I was tempted! Dinner was kind of late last night, so my stomach didn't feel great this morning and I considered swapping my run for the elliptical, or running tonight, or something. In the end I took it to the treadmill and that worked out okay. So a mostly tempo run in the books, with a bit of speedwork/progression thrown into the middle.

Looking back, I am happy to report that I made it to Runpub on Wednesday night (though mid-afternoon it was looking doubtful) and did a nice 10 km run with QC to give me about 21 km for the day. Yesterday was weights and stretch/strength.

Have a great weekend, good luck to those racing, and good times to those watching the Olympics!

8K done- did NOT want to get out there, but once I did I had a pretty good run! I ran strongly up a big hill, which made me happy. It also made me happy that the last 3.5km or so were downhill. 8)

It's been a while since I posted in the daily thread.

This morning I decided to go for a quick run just before work around the seawall in Vancouver. A Beautiful morning for a run and hardly a sole on the seawall at 7am, with the exception of a few runners. Started at the Olympic Flame (in honour of the Summer Games starting today :) ) out to Stanley Park and back, 6.4K in 35:22 (5:31/K pace). Now back to a busy day at work, thankfully only a half day and then home to watch the Olympics.
PB’s (official race results)

To run or not to run, that is the question? I just finished a go round with my foam roller and stretching so I can not decide whether I should run my 10k or move it to tomorrow.

Heading for Cowtown for the weekend so did my long run today - 31.5 k. Tough slogging as this idiot felt that adding 18 holes of golf to the 11k I ran yesterday would be a good idea. Today my legs were saying "not so much".

10K today. I ran at work which I don't usually do. Good because I got to run along the canal, bad because i was really sweaty at work. All in all, worth it though.

Got in another quick 5K. Apparently I am going away all weekend. Supposed to run 10 tomorrow and 30 on Sunday but it may not happen now so I figured I would at least get a few more K in.

I dog sat last night. Every time my visiting dog would move Hannah would growl. She got herself so worked up she got herself sick. Ended up we were up every 30 minutes until 3:30 in the morning. Then they all fell asleep for 2 hours and got up for the day. I declared a rest day due to exhaustion!

Loved the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. I foresee running being challenging for the next while. I think I may get up and turn on olympics instead of heading out for a run!
