Morning!

Yep. Same here. Off to the races. Raining out, but very lightly so far.

I have to pull myself away from watching the later finishers at IMC Kona. Trying to get inspired!

rest day for me. Off to do therapy dog evaluations instead. Good luck to everyone racing! So many races today!!!! Two years ago I was set for my first marathon at Nike Womens but went stair skiing followed 2 weeks later by tearing 2 tendons and a ligament in my shoulder. That was 8 weeks before the marathon that never was. Three weeks from today I try again in New York! But today ... nothing :D

I ran an easy 7.5k this morning when I got up so I could come home, sip coffee and check in on my running friends. Other than the RM crew, I am tracking friends in Cape to Cabot in NF (he's done in awesome time), STWM, PEI and NWM. I have a list.

The stream is really choppy and hard to watch. :(

And Sportstats is down too. Tough when we come to rely on the technology working!

Anyway, I hope to see the results soon. Good luck everyone.

Still puttering around, legs bit sore after a brutal spin class yesterday okay and the coffee is so good! Going to hit hamstermill shortly for an hour slowish run. Good news is my hemoglobin is back to almost normal so feel like my old self!

My third Cape to Cabot 20 km is in the books in 1:58:46 with a 5 minute negative split and a 9 minute PB! Feels great. Decided to ignore pace and run comfortable today, and as a result I didn't blow up at the end.

Congratulations to everyone racing today.

2013:
April: Mundy Pond 5k 22:39 (new PB)
May: New job on a new continent so who knows.
June: Mizuno 10 Miler Rio de Janeiro 1:23:36.
July: Rio de Janeiro Marathon 1:48:30 (new PB).

I did the half as a long run in 1:53. I decided I wasn't up to racing, and Mel was cool just taking it easy. Apparently we burned 1200 calories. ;)

Have fun racing today everyone. I am about to head out for my first run in a week. That's right I took a whole week off, from running. I am meeting a fellow maniac and we are going to do a nice easy 8-10k and then hopefully coffee, if she has time.

Exceeded my A++ goal and wound up with an 8-minute PR, with a chip time of 2:13:00 flat. Full report to come, after foam roller, shower, and quite possibly a nap...

Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon for me this morning. Tough conditions at the start with the rain but it stopped raining after about 7km. I finished in 3:30, 13 minutes off a pb for me. However, I am pleased with the time just over 4 weeks after spraining my ankle. I gave everything I had today and was running at close to a 3:15 pace but my hamstrings and quads had had enough by 30 km.

Had a lovely trot through Prince Edward County this morning with a great group of people trying to break 2 hours. I had a pretty good sized crew with me coming into the last 2 km, most of which turned on the afterburners and left me in their dust (well, not so much dust because of the rain). At the end I had 2 girls with me- one who was with me from the very start, and one who I picked up along the way (after she'd given up hope). Since they were the only 2 left, I slowed down just a touch (as they were both really struggling) in order to be with them when they crossed- what a great feeling to help them hit their goals- they were so happy!

A good day for sure.

And, good results from the other maniacs out there in the County this morning- an almost PB, a PB, and an age group win. I'll let them give the details! :D
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

STWM for me too. Met my "C" goal which is a BQ. Finished 3:54:31. The wind at the end was pretty rough. I never felt really strong this race so the wind made it an extra tough finish. Got to spend time with Lisa before the race though, and that was awesome! Nice to chat with you Lisa!

Congrats to all the racers today - definitely a lot of them!

It was a good day at the races in our house. Ed (a.k.a. Terrific Whatzit) was doing the Prince Edward County Marathon as his A race for the Fall. I was running the marathon as a training run for NYC in a few weeks.

Well, as Erin mentioned above, it was Ed who got the PB: 4:04:48, a big jump from his previous 4:07:55 from Vancouver 2011. Really, really happy for him.

And my training run was good. I was targeting 3:45, but with no pace bunny I went out way too fast (amazing how much energy your legs have when you haven't run since Wednesday) and had trouble slowing down to the target 5:20 pace. So I paid for it in the end, the last 10 km were pretty tough, but the final time was 3:37:31. And it's a small race, so that was good enough for 1st place in the W 50-59 AG. Now with NYC in three weeks I need to rest a bit and maintain the fitness. Hope I can run that well (or better?) in the Big Apple. Big bonus with today was that my nutrition/hydration strategy appeared to work - no major GI issues or bonking. Fingers crossed I can repeat that as well.
