Long-distance Duathlon arrives in North America

Postby HCcD » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:30 am

Who's DUing It ??  :P

Long-distance Duathlon arrives in North America

Modelled after the world famous Powerman Zofingen in Switzerland, this challenging Canadian-based race starts with a 10.5k run, leading in to a full 180k Iron-distance cycle, followed by a 31.5k run to finish along the shores of beautiful Lake Banook – all with no swimming!

Held on the established Subaru EPIC Dartmouth course, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, this new event is part of a major expansion for 2013 that will see 1800 participants over the three-day Canada Day weekend, and ties into an already successful Long-distance multi-sport weekend.

So if you are a runner and a cyclist, and looking for the ultimate in a duathlon? Join us for on June 30th, 2013, for the inaugural event of TERRA Dartmouth.

Will there be a swim portion? No!

Will I get to just run and cycle? Yes!

Ok, what’s the price? $375, and with the $100 off till Dec 31st, you pay just $275

Is there a shorter duathlon event as part of this weekend? Like a sprint?

ETA... Nope... But Pat is thinking about it. I may Sherpa for him!

This event got excellent reviews this year, its first year. I expect it will become very popular now that people know it's well organized.

fyi ...

COMPETE WITH A TEAM OF TWO, THREE, OR FOUR

We wanted to make our team event more accessible for recreational athletes, so we found a way to split the bike course. Now, instead of needing a single cyclist to do 180k, a team could have two cyclists completing just 90k each.

But what we discovered by making this change is a great idea for a two person team. <--- Read more here.

Friends, partners, spouses - these folks will be having a lot of fun on Canada Day Weekend. Where will you be?
