Good Saturday Morning!

Postby Jwolf » Sat Apr 06, 2013 7:29 am

I'm up early to go to the Birch Bay Road Race with Rob. This is our western version of Around the Bay. :) I'm not racing today but I'll probably go for a short run along the Bay while I wait for him to finish.

Have a good one everyone. :)

Good luck to Rob, fingers crossed that the rain will hold off.

First run in a month. Between shoulder issues and then a horrid cold / strep I ended up not running since the first week of March. Today was a easy 3K at 2:1 to ease back into it. Definitely feeling the time off but overall not too bad. However I have decided not to do the half at ORW. Just too much ground to make up in too short a time after a rough winter to try to push through to 21.1 by the end of May. Already found a new home for my race bib and I am going to focus on re building my base and having a strong fall race season  Off to the library with Hannah today for the reading program then laundry, some back yard agility, and not sure what else.

Good Saturday Morning!

Postby marymac442 » Sat Apr 06, 2013 8:11 am

I am trying to psych myself up for a long day. I will be heading out around 7:30 for 18k, the first 8 or so on my own and then I will meet up with the gals for the last 10k.
I really hope the rain stays to a drizzle cause after a short break for coffee, I then have to head out for a 90 minute paddle.
I will be consuming a beer or two once that is all done :)

Not running Harry's. Not race ready. Sigh. (Don't worry, I didn't register.) Still dealing with some lower back muscle issues. I did get out for 10.6 km out eastward past Cherry Beach. Nice sunny day. But I wish I could be running more and better. Good luck to everyone racing today or tomorrow!

Just in from my usual Saturday morning spin class. I got there early enough that I was able to get a good 40 minutes in before class, then the class itself (50min) for a total of 90min. I REALLY hope that this will be my last Saturday morning spin class and that I can ride outside starting next weekend!

Have a great race, Rob & have fun cheering, Jen! Can't wait to hear about how fast and strong you raced :).Crappy day here - cold w/ some rain & 70km/hr winds! So I hit the tm for a MP tempo -getting oh-so-close to my taper! I always find this last stretch of training a mental hurdle!!!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Just over 16 km along the canal this morning - the sun was beautiful, but the wind was brisk when it was in your face! I did the middle 5 km at race pace, just to mix things up. Lots of runners out!

12k in the wind with a newish running friend. My legs were so sore from bootcamp yesterday I was done before we even started. Luckily she did the same bootcamp yesterday so our legs felt the same.

Just 5K on the treadmill for me. I wish I could have got out today for my long run, but my wife is working nights tonight so I'm on daddy duty today (not that that's ever a bad thing!). Tomorrow does not look very nice as things stand right now, LOL.

Met Spaff at the North End of Frontenac park and had a great 3:35 run. Nothing flat, but no huge climbs, just solid up/down running. Just 90min drive from home, very reachable for weekend long runs. Will be back there next Sunday for 4hrs, just hope I don't get (too) lost. Thanks coach.

35k went Hogs back to the Ott River parkway up their about 7.5k and back for 35. Was tough on the parkway as most isn't melted yet so some tough slippy footing. I'll be feeling this tomorrow. Surprisingly chilly nears Does lake an along the river. The wind off the water has bite. Other than that a great day for a run. Now to light the egg and cook some chicken.

Great weather, I ended up running the 5k for fun (28:something). Rob had a really good race- but I'll let him report later. ;) Then beer and food in Bellingham. We're on our way back now.

Had a good day today finishing in 2:21 and change. I wanted to go into this race on tired legs (no taper) and just hold a good steady pace throughout. The legs held up well and I'm hoping I can continue marathon training where I left off. Without being stupid of course.

Thanks, Jen for your support. It was great to have you there! Overall a great day. :)
