Isn't that entire article pretty much the MO of runningmania? I've always found this site to be inclusive and supporting of all runners, no matter fast or slow, hyper-competitive or just out for the sunshine.

Absolutely!

The only issue I have with the article is the title. It should be, "Do You Think You Run Slowly."

I don't know, maybe "slow runners" need our support even more?

Come on. Whom are you trying to impress with you're correct use of English?

What I got out of it was "stop thinking of yourself as slow". Speed is relative- there's almost always someone faster. But if you continually call yourself "slow" you can entrenched in that negative mindset.

Great article, thanks for posting!
I found this quote kind of hit home for me.
It's all relative.
I found this quote kind of hit home for me.
I hope you can look at some of these stats and insights from runners who are “fast” and realize speed is merely a state of mind. Once you can reframe your thoughts on your speed and potential, you open yourself up for great things to happen with your training and racing.
It's all relative.

Agreed. And what a good reminder. There is ALWAYS someone slower, always someone (unless you are the fastest human) faster.

That why I like trails. The stuff whizzing by my head and the constant shuffling over rocks, roots and around corners makes me feel faster

LOL, yeah I hear you. I think the fastest I've ever been was when I caught my toe on a root and smashed chest/shoulder first onto an exposed piece of granite. I must have hit the ground doing at least 15 MPH, LOL
Re: So What You're a Slow Runner!
Back when I was racing motorcycles, I had a sticker on the back of my bike that said 'I may be slow, but I'm ahead of you'.
That might look good printed on the back of my RM shirt...?

Love the article thanks for sharing. I am glad there is someone else out there who irrationally worries about being last. I am learning to let that go...

I've been second last (10-mile race in '99). And in another race, only 23 people finished behind me (Ironman 2003 - where more people are around to cheer for the last person than the first!).

Last to me is those who didn't start or try. I try and remind myself that most times when I am finishing would have been a time in years past that I would still be in bed.
