Okay, this is a tough one in which to find a positive spin... Rick: If you hang up the elite marathon circuit, you might be interested in trying an ultra. More fun and costs less per K...

Hey! I said it was tough!
It's a hill. Get over it!

sorry to hear this, but my best healing vibes sent for a good recovery.
Rick has been a great inspiration.

You would think rather than being bored sitting in his chair, he would be surfing RM and saying hi....but maybe that would be mentally hard.

Thanks for posting this update Doug. I just want to thank everybody from running mania and I appreciate all of those good vibes. Runners are such great people. It is hard to find a positive sometimes but the accident could have been so much worse or I could have died. I went through some really frustrating times and rough patches along the way but the glass remains half full for me :) . I have been through the mill you could say but I plan on coming back better than ever. To be honest one of the ways that I got through this is I applied the same work ethics that I put into running, into my rehab. I was determined to get my arm working again. My last MRI showed that the bone infection had disintegrated some of my bone (no wonder why it hurt so much) so I am waiting for that to heal up.

I really miss running and I can't wait to see you on the trails again soon!

Never give up!

Thanks for checking in Rick!
You have a great attitude and continue to inspire.

Is the infection still there or has that been killed off?

I'm not sure yet, hoping it is and that it won't come back though.

This is exactly what the pros do! I remember Lisa Bentley saying the same thing after she had an injury a few years ago.
