Hmmm... tempting. Definitely sounds like it could be fun.
Re: The Beer Run -- Ottawa -- October 20, 2013
very tempting...how long is the course? the website appropriately discusses the beer more than the course.

Fun idea. Isn't Big Rig way out by Ikea? That's a long way to go after already hitting 4 breweries!

I saw somewhere on the site that the run was about 10k.

Edit...I posted right about when HccD was posting so I missed your comment until now.
I just mapped it out on Google maps as they don't list the distance, but do show the route, it looks about 13.2k all in, the question is how do I now get home?
If my DW will pick me up I'm in...should know by tomorrow morning. A work colleague is doing the same who lives out by me so I'm expecting it'll be a yes.

I mapped it out and it's just under 11k for me to run home from the end. Since you're an ultra guy it should be a piece of cake to run the extra bit out to the boonies.

Hahahaha...I guess we could just consider the beer carb loading or fueling for the extra distance
Oh and it looks like its another 34k to get home if I can run along the 416. So a 47k day full of beer...mmmm.

Hmmm....beer, brewery tours, entertainment, a run, food and more beer. And maybe 34K of speedwork down the 416 to finish it off.

Re: The Beer Run -- Ottawa -- October 20, 2013
I signed up. Wasn't planning on it when I first saw it but 2 good friends who aren't typically runners did and asked me to join them. My beer drinking days are mostly behind me, but eh, why not.
Re: The Beer Run -- Ottawa -- October 20, 2013
Sounds like a RM gather at hand here...my buddy from work signed up as well. We all (wife, buddy, and I) choose to be the casual runners. Figure Beer Drinkers will be walkers, Advanced will be racing, the rest will enjoy the day.

Re: The Beer Run -- Ottawa -- October 20, 2013
This would be so much fun, but not really worth travelling from Vancouver to attend. Having said that, maybe I can have my own grass roots type of run here in YVR.
The closest we have to this is the Jog for a Jug in Point Robert's, WA (a short 30min drive from Vancouver). The brochure has a typo; it should be June 15th, 2013 and not 2012.
Mind you, we do have the 1/2 Corked Marathon in Oliver/Osoyoos touring the wineries in the area.

I think it's time to make a suggestion to the brew pubs around here, there must be a way to swing it around here.

If you decide it's worth the $600 flight you have a place to stay
I've read of the wineman duathalon in Edmonton, less organized it appears but still fun. I always wanted to organize one of the wineman races in my neighborhood. Living in the boonies there's little traffic to get run over by, and the neighborhood would join in rather than hide in the houses and call the police.
