On the Eve of Christmas....

Postby RA. » Tue Dec 24, 2013 6:18 am

I'm waiting for the sun to come up so I can take a guess on if the sidewalks are a sheet of ice or not. I think I'll attempt an outdoor run, regardless. It just might be slower than normal.

Merry Christmas Eve!

5.3k done. I'm glad to say that the sidewalks were pretty good. But, now it is snow/hailing, and they are getting slippy again.

Thinking I need to buy a treadmill! Ottawa is cold already and we still have three(?) months of winter to go.

Will do my run tomorrow. Tonight = rum and eggnog.

I have dinner at my Mom's tonight, then tomorrow is actually quiet, no dinner, just presents and hot chocolate. I found a CRAZY fattening "Polar Express" Hot Chocolate that I am going to make, maybe a movie in the afternoon. :)

Seafood chowder ready to go, house as clean as it can get w/ 3 kids, a dog & a cat; shopping & wrapping done too - I think I deserve a run!!! Wish could go outside but it's a slushy/icy mess :(.

Big neighbourhood party @ my house tonight - a favourite tradition. Because we have no family here, we started doing this years ago. It's grown to be quite a crazy night!!! But a quiet, peaceful day tomorrow awaits...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. Blessings to you and your families.
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Heading to the gym in a couple of hours for a strength workout - then home to wrap and relax. Merry Christmas Eve!!

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

We lost electricity during the night, but it's back on now. The world is all a-glitter here, with the sun shining on the ice. I'm off to slip-slide over to the neighbours to deliver cookies! Hope to get some outdoor running (with spikes on my feet) while I'm at the in-laws for the next couple days. Have a happy Christmas, all you Manics!

Recovery 10k....now going to drinks lots of Beaus, and eat hot wings. That's our tradition...to bad tomorrow is a hard effort day in Ferguson Forrest on snow shoes...it'll be a rough one.

Oh yes, Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all have a great day, and Santa doesn't leave any coal in your stocking...but seeing how good this group is I can't ever see that happening.

I thought I'd posted earlier but I guess not.

13.5km this morning with my normal training buddy and a girl he used to coach, who is now a college track runner. 8 x 600m hard. It was a tough one, but it was great to get it done nice and early.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
