Super Sunny Saturday

Postby scrumhalfgirl » Sat Apr 12, 2014 7:16 am

It is so nice here - I think I might be on a sunshine high after a seemingly never-ending winter!

6 km outside for me this morning - I'm seriously rocking the run-waddle now, but the fresh air feels so great.

Happy weekend Maniacs!

Hi Ray!

Well we are in the heat of marathon training so it was 32k at bunny pace. I was a wee bit fast, but steady as a rock!

Hey friend!

That sounds awesome. Maybe I will come down on May 4th to cheer you on. What is your goal with the group?

Ray.

Good life is for the half. I think I will race that one, and cheer on my clinic. I'm pacing 4:30 in Ottawa on May 26. A bunch from the north York running room are headed there as well

Marden Half Marathon today. Finished first in my AG (F40 and over) which is not to be confused with first female masters (who ran 9 minutes faster than me lol). Great day for running. Tough course but fun. Saw Rob run a very very fast race (but won't break his news). Looked for everyone else but didn't recognize anyone. Anne, even asked a woman in the bathroom who was wearing your shirt if she was you.... Hopefully next time.

Great day for running. Did 18K in shorts with the group. Well, not quite with them...they kept coming back to check on me. Longest run in at least 18 months.

I did an easy 8 km with my 1 year-old in the Chariot this morning. Second day in a row I've run in shorts. Hope this weather sticks around for a bit.

Break day for me. This is the week in my plan where I have a break from a long run and it works out that I get two break days in a row. I'm sure the legs will be nice and fresh tomorrow :)

Super sunny Saturday here for sure! It's clouded over now, but I ran 17 km this morning under a clear blue sky. I was almost overdressed in capris and one long-sleeved shirt, but that's okay. And that's it for long runs until Boston. In a way I'm sorry that my training isn't all there and in another way I don't mind, because it takes the pressure off. Having said that, I'll still be a bundle of nerves waiting for the start. :)

One thing I know for sure - I am looking forward to staying up late tonight, not worrying about what I eat for dinner, and sleeping in tomorrow! Of course "sleeping in" is something like 8:30, which is not exactly the middle of the day, but still...it's a definite change from the usual Saturday night-Sunday morning routine.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend as much as I am. :)

Nice 12 km run, 11˚C out, almost warm :P . Only one layer on top. A few more degrees and it will be short sleeves for me.

As I was running through Marilyn Bell Park, I heard my name called, looked over and saw a friend going by on a bike. So I jogged over and she slowed down enough that we could chat for the next 3 km, since we were heading in the same direction. She lives near Coronation Park and I always think, Wouldn't it be funny to see her while I'm out running. After nearly a decade, I finally did!

Thought I'd change it up a bit from my usual routes today, and ran the eastern half of the Baden Powell. Grouse Skyride to Deep Cove, roughly 15 miles (give or take), lots of elevation change. Hungry now but going to a friend's birthday dinner tonight so I can eat what I want tonight. :)

eta: kneeknacker website says 14 miles so I'll count it as that.

Change of scenery 21k run today, started out with the marathon crew. They were doing a 35k run, three of us ran with them for the first 13k along the Ridgeway bike route towards UBC. Nice route (other than one big hill), got to tour the fancy homes on the west side. Once we split off from the pack, we headed north along a new to us bike route, nice ocean views and lots of cherry blossoms.

Super cold Saturday here. -1 and gusting winds of NNW 50kph made for a cold run. Regardless, managed 10.4k.
